got a part in the mail. i did not order or pay for. part is almost new.

This happen to before but through a actual online vendor, (non car related). I bought a pc through Dell, 7 months after my purchase i randomly got a free case & mouse. Maybe you bought something under some type of promotion that came with that free?

 

It was sent to me under my name. Fits my year of car.. (90 to 92). And I have orderd from them before.. lost a $100 the last time I orderd.from them...lol

all my switches are still like new..and I have not orderd anything from this business in over a year+.

 

It happens. It's yours now. If somebody just sends you something you are NOT on the hook to pay for it. Back in the '50s this company would send women pantyhose out of the blue then send 'em a bill. A lot of women just paid it because they were scared but the Attorney General found out and the government put through a law that you're not allowed to send somebody something they didn't order then charge them for it. They are allowed to call you and ask you to ship it back to them on their dime but it seems like that doesn't happen much.

A buddy of mine ordered a Gibson Les Paul from a mail order house. About a week later a second, identical Les Paul turned up at his place. He kept it a couple months to see if they were going to contact him but they never did.

This happens to me somewhat frequently. I do a lot of online selling & purchasing to make some extra dough on the side. I get packages I never ordered or payed for fairly often. I always send an email or call and offer to ship it back on THEIR dime & INSURED on their dime. Seriously, they ALWAYS tell me to just keep the item. Last was a $150 Nvidia graphics card. I just sold it for $200 on eGay. I sleep like a baby at night only because I always attempt to make contact with the shipping entity to make it good. The China sellers are the worst. I get accidental items at least once a month. They never want them back.

its always nice to get free parts...i posted on this site.. only to give heads up.. if a member was missing a part they might have orderd.and paid for... but im sure im the only one with my name.. and my year of car. on this site...i did my part...

The right thing to do is to contact the seller (via phone, email, etc.) and let them know about their mistake. It is not reasonable to assume the seller will see this post/thread.

Obviously, if they want the part back, they should pay for the shipping.

 

sent a email.. 6 days ago..no reply...also no reply to the $100 they took me for over a year ago.. case close..
and a spiffy new back up part is now on the shelf..

my post on this site was for the buyer...only.. just in case it was the only part in this shape they had. and the buyer was on this site. it must be them trying to make up for the money they took me for last year.. nice start.

 

^ if the company stiffed you for $100 you should name them, to give others a heads up.

I had a co. I deal with send me 3 sets of hbeam connecting rods. I only ordered 1 set. I thought maybe I purchased them by accident. nope. just a whse. shipping error. I contacted the supplier. they asked if I needed them and I always use them. they gave them to me at a very heavily discounted price. pennies on the dollar. I paid them for the rods. turned out well. Imade quite a tidy profit with them.
