A co-worker turned me on to an outfit in Arvada, CO, that overhauls torque converters. They will taylor the stall speed per your specs while they're at it. For my '86 TH700R4, they quoted me $185 for disassembly, overhaul (including clutch), stall change (up to 2400), balance, pressure test, and purple paint. The co-worker told me they do nationwide business (although I forgot to ask while on the phone).

Of course the price quoted was carry-in, but shipping probably won't be that much.
