Will ported 305 heads be fine with LT1 intake?

My friend is selling his LT1 intake from his '95 Formula for $50. Not a bad price, right. Now the heads will become the next hinderance in flow correct? Will ported Lb9 heads be good and what cam should I go with?

Thanks, Kevin.

I'll be my own guinni pig then. And to those that care I will dyno my findings as well.

I would use a L99 intake on your 305, not a LT1 intake. The smaller ports of the L99 intake should match the smaller ports of the heads and velocity should stay high for you. Just my opinion.

John, For my "stats book", whats your compression ratio, and hows that thing running in the 1/4 this year?

Trying to get an idea of different intake/head combinations.

John, this is the part I'm still confused about. If I switch over to a 350 some day, I'll need the LT1 intake for it. Would you be willing to trade up at that point when I'm ready for the swap? Because I will be trading you soon for the L99 intake.

Also, have you ever dynoed the 2 intakes on the 305?

Thanks again John.

Sorry, I can't trade you a L99 for a LT1 intake. You can port match the L99 intake when it comes time for the 350.

I don't have access to a dyno in Savannah. Some of the board members may have dynoed a 305 with a LT1 intake though.

So let's say I go with the L99 intake, it will be good for stock heads. Would it still be good for ported Lb9 heads?

Now alot of guys, well most seem to be MAF Lb9's that have the peanut cam, since I am SD and have the L98 cam, would 1.6RR's be a nice upgrade and compliment the L99/Lt1 intake more than it would the TPI?

I've done a search so many times and different phrases, but no one has any dyno results or at least results with the mods I have planned. Most have crazy heads and cams and such.

This is all I have planned, anything over these mods and it becomes more hassle and headache than fun and worthwhile.

<L99/Lt1 intake, 2055 headers, 1.6RR's (some better springs as well), 3.42 or 3.73 gears.> After all that maybe a nice conv, vette servo, and shift kit and I'll call it a day.

I'm thinking I should be in the 230whp area with these mods.

The 305 heads have the same port size as the 350!!! Why would it not work to stick the LT1 intake on them.
