Accel Super Ram setup question....

I was looking online at the Accel Super ram setup which basically looks like a boxy setup that replaces the stock tpi runners and base. Just wanted to see if anyone has had good luck with it and if there is anything better out there for $850??? for my 87 GTA.
any info much appreciated
thanks!

thanks for the info,
My major reason for asking is because Ive seen alot of Hype on the board regarding the Holley Ram setup and the Accel seems to be the "older model".
Im basically trying to compare all options.....
thanks again

.

Its not worth the minimal performance gain for what it cost. Save that money for a cam.

Sorry, I disagree. I LIKE my SUperRam setup. Plus it's emissions legal, while none of the others (Holley Stealth Ram, etc.) are on our cars....

Don't get me wrong, if I had one, id put it on. I would spend money on other stuff first though.

You can buy just the intake manifold, runners and plenum for about $850 that is meant as a bolt on for TPI cars. What you're talking about is the complete EFI conversion kit. It comes with the Superram intake plus all the plumbing and wiring you need to convert to EFI.

would you need the whole setup for a crate 350....??? i might be able to ask the guy to set it up for EFI but i just want to know what all might be involved. As far as i know itd be a 383 crate motor and i can have it built any way i want...how do i want him to build it so i can put a super ram on it?

Primarily get a cam with a 112 or 114 LSA, nothing less! As for the lifts, that will depend on your rockers/valves/heads/exhaust.

I went with what comp cams tech line recommended for my configuration. You should probably talk to them and a couple of others just to be sure. Other than that, there is no other real "setup" to the engine itself. Just normal stuff (around 10:1 compression max for iron heads, less if gonna add a blower or gas, etc.)

Hope this helps. All I can do is pass on my personal experience here....

i was mainly refering to machining the block for the manifold bolts and what not but apparently since its a conversion for any small block chevy i imagine it will go right on top of any crate 383/350

but thx for the info on the cam i plan on eventually going with a twin turbo setup from bbs designs in a few years so my compression will def be btw 8-9:1

Yep, it bolts right up to the standard intake holes on the heads. Mine was even cut for both the early and later (pre-Vortec) heads. Nothing in the block has to be changed at all besides having a decent cam to realize it's potential).
