anesthes, nice set up, but we need to talk about your ignition wire routing.
Seriously, if you have the same problem as me, burning wires on the headers, I would recommend Design Engenering Inc. heat sheath(?). I use them on my two headered cars with no burnt wires in three years. Elsewise, I think you got it goin' on.

Joe - I'm kinda surprised you got a coil in the cap dizzy to work, too. Figured a small cap was required.....

Some stuff on the vette is crazy tight, you should see the oil temp sender and gauge sender on the back of the block, which is also 1/8" from the dizzy and 1/8" from the wiper motor. Other things however have tons and tons of room.

Ah, I see now. I don't think the dizzy fitting or not has much to do with it being a Vette though, its all the LT1 or MiniRam style intakes and the fuel rail locations, right? I wouldn't want to try and fit a large cap with my SR either....

Bottom line is I've still got some differential between the two WB's, but I've got it down to .75 - 1.0 at idle and around 0.5 at cruise, a little less at WOT but it actually seems to flip-flop between the sides at WOT. So from all appearances, it is something inherent to the SuperRam. Guess I'll just tune for for which ever one appears to be the leanest to save engine damage. Especially if I ever decide to install that NEX kit I have sitting in the garage.....

Looks a lot like my 3.5" setup - except your battery is on the wrong side and you have the CAI on backwards.....

Really? are they steel or aluminum? I like how those look and have been looking for parimeter bolt VC's... I definitly like the cast 'vette ones but I suspected that they'd be tight, I keep hearing that they'll work with double gaskets but I haven't found a set of them anywhere either.

The cast vette covers have these stupid tabs cast into them that hit the rockers. I guess they could be cut off, but i wasnt in the mood to try it and then have a tap later on.

I have a set of the cast Vette covers that I'm trying to get the grey off of now so I can polish them.
That stuff is tough, anyway do you think they will clear rollers if I cut them?
They are Harland 1.5's
Don't want to do a bunch of work just so someone else can use them.
Really hate the idea of double gaskets, thats just problematic.

Thanks antithesis, it seems that those valve covers from that era just look right under the hoods of our 3rd gens… I just need to get my mitts on some.
JP… I know I’ve seen them used with RR’s, but I don’t know if anything was done to use them. You know that you can get double thickness gaskets instead of using 2, right?

...as for the comment on the Pro-Magnums being loud: They are loud. In fact you can hear them ticking away so much that you would swear that there are a bunch of bad lifters in there! I've checked them a bunch of times, and the engine runs great & all, but I still feel weird whenever I sit in traffic and listen to all that clicking out front...

That's what I'm hoping the composite covers will help eliminate by "absorbing" some of that rattle. I'm also concerned about what the knock sensore will do with all that extra noise - nothing I hope!

what is your oil pressure at idle? mine is around 40 psi after it warms up (hv moroso pump), maybe that is why mine don't make noise.
regardless, if mine develop the ticking later on, i will just need to remove the mufflers so i wouldn't be able to hear it any more

It has more to due with the cam profile than the pro-mags. If have had them on three different cams, first two were very noisey but the cam I have now, they are very quiet.

im on a comp cs xr276hr 12 grind. the part number is 08-503-8. sound real healthy

Here's mine, been driving it most of the summer. 383 bowtie block, Accel DFI intake, Accel 1200cfm progressive linkage, Accel Billet Dual Sync dizzy, FAST XFI ecm, cogged Vortech 12psi, etc, etc, etc. Fun to drive. 91 octane too.

This is an olde pic of my 383 cid mini rammed motor. I'm running Edelbrock ported RPM heads, ZZ-X cam. I have since cleaned up all the hoses and plug wires. Added a new set of Jet-Hot coated Hedman Hedders. New valve covers too...I'm in the process of installing my ATI Procharger with a 3 core intercooler. After I'm done wit that I'll post a new pic.

I'm sure summit/jegs has them.

Operation single plane is now in effect! Its a World Products Motown intake. I have a Wilson Elbow on order, and I already have the fuel rails.
