HSR Ability's

Whats the max hp/tq and rpm that a HSR can support?

I have a forged 383 1-piece, AFR cnc'd 215cc, and the complete HSR kit w/42# injectors, 58mm TB and Commander 950 with WB that should be here Monday or Tuesday. I do all my own tuning so thats not an issue. This will be on a 91 GTA thats set-up for the track but will remain streetable (chassis wise). Tonight we just finished pulling the LB9/A4 and installing the SFC's, LCA's and relo's, PHB, wonderbar and AJE Racing Tubular K-Member with A-Arms. 2 day process and im beat . *note* Spohn SFC's are great fit and product.

I originally bought a Super Victor and a 950DP but decided to go EFI at the last minute. Heres the stumper though. I bought the complete valvetrain from Comp locally that includes Titanium Retainers, springs, lashcaps, roller lifters, magnum RR's, roller chain, VS height meter, pushrod length checker and a solid roller 4-7 swap .630" and 264*@.050. 4200-7200rpm.

Can the Stealth Ram support this cam? Im really not wanting to buy another cam if this one will work. (eventually) The kit i bought from Holley says (for 550-600HP). I know that doesnt mean much, but thats close to the projected HP level im trying to obtain.

Thanks for the Help

Well, what do your heads flow? I'm pretty sure a HSR 1205 port out of the box flows 275 cfm. I'm guessing the AFR's are in the low 300s with a 215cc runner (prolly 2.05" valves too eh?). I imagine if you weld the hsr, port it to a 1206 it will probably flow enough to push almost 500hp n/a.

I know you can add metal to the port entry and open it up to a 1206, but I don't think you can make the runner any bigger. I've read some posts about the casting thickness being too minimal, but holley could have recast since. Measure twice, cut once.

Thanks Joe

Thats kind of what i was afraid of. If i cant obtain the 550-600hp that will be fine as long as i can use the powerband of the cam. I forgot to add that the motor is 11.3-11.5cr with -7cc and will run VP Fuels 116. I will spray it if need be. Thats what it was built for anyways.

Does the Holley Commander 950 have the ability to emulate?

Re: HSR Ability's

Joe's right, the HSR in stock form appears to flow 275 cfm. According to this page, it can be modified to "easily reach 300cfm with minor port work", although what that port work might be isn't detailed there.

Hope this helps.

Re: HSR Ability's

The HSR will support the combo you have. The only issue you may have is the cam. What is the lsa? If it is any lower that 110* you will have a very hard time tuning it. I have a an HSR with the AFR 227's, twin Garret GT70 turbo's, and a comp cams roller on a 408 and it made 826 hp at the crank at 6400rpm and 794 ftlbs of torque at 4700rpm and we still need to fiddle with the tuning (waiting till it's in the car for that). I used a Big Stuff 3 for engine managment.
