An all new and revised HSR? Look inside!

http://ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=955351

I stumbled across that just now and made a post in the thread. Look at the gains over a stock LT1 intake! If this interests you, post in the thread so hopefully they will consider a SBC version.

Dont get too excited. What they have done is to cut down the HSR so that it will fit under the Corvette hood. If you have a Firebird, this might be a good way to go (I thought that I have read that the HSR does not fit cleanly under the Firebird hood). For a Camaro, the standard HSR will fit, except maybe the IROCZ.

yep just a modded HSR. Nothing much different other than it fits better. HSR fits Irocz as long as you dont have poly motor mounts but you still have to cut bracing out from under the hood. Not a big deal but something extra with the swap

Re: An all new and revised HSR? Look inside!

how much taller is the HSR over the stock TPI?? im putting a HSR on a 383 that im building and i remember reading its 1/2" taller in the front. but if u add poly mounts which i will be doin... how much height is it total over the stock TPI??? i need to kno cuz im making a strut tower brace for my car with 1.75" .134 wall hrew tubing left over from my 8ot roll cage, i will of course notch it for the HSR... sumthing like this....

http://www.umiperformance.com/2008?category_id=167

i should have enough room bc i have a ram air II hood which is about 2" extra clearance over stock.

that hood should give you the clearance needed. I'm not sure how much taller it is over stock TPI but its a good inch or two taller atleast.

Re: An all new and revised HSR? Look inside!

The HSR hasn't really been an option on C4 L98s till now. Not only will our customized HSR fit under the hood, but because we have made it an air gap manifold, you will be able to retain your stock distributor! Our customized HSR is welded into a one piece true bolt-on without any interruption to its great flow characteristics. We also sell, as an option, the modified fuel rails and adapter kit with our customized HSR.
The vette forum post is a modded HSR...basically cut down to fit C4 hoods

LS1tech thread appears to take it one step further and have cut down the runner length and played with plenum volume to fit LT1 cars

Re: An all new and revised HSR? Look inside!

im talking about the STOCK HSR height vs the stock TPI height??? i heard its 1/2" taller but with the addition of poly engine mounts usually raises a stock engine 1/2" so that would mean at least 1" taller than stock TPI height... that what im asking... if anyone knew the height differences.

Re: An all new and revised HSR? Look inside!

Its more than an inch different, plus the TPI throttle body is angled down due to the plenum, and the HSR sticks straight out.

and the HSR sticks straight out.
thats the biggest problem and why my hood doesnt clear 100%. hood is angled downward toward the nose while the TB is straight out

Re: An all new and revised HSR? Look inside!

Thats why I cant use it as is in a different car. This has me thinkin though... just going forward with plan A from years ago when I first saw a converted tunnel ram. Make my own box. I might do that with the other base I have first, rather than going out and getting half a HSR.

Re: An all new and revised HSR? Look inside!

my next option for my build will be a converted single plane with a elbow and LSx tb i think

making your own box will be good too. wider and or shorter will help clearance issues
