Alternative EFI for Supercharged Street-able 383
I have a 93 Caprice. (It's a big car.) I want to use a Vortech centrifugal blower. (I know ProCharger is better but a Vortech is what I have.) I only want to push MAYBE 10lbs. I am not looking for a drag strip car. I only want to run about 195-200cc cylinder heads with 72cc combustion chambers and about 9:1 compression.
I need a top mounted blow-thru TB set up or an elbow TB set up that bends to the drivers side of the engine bay. The Vortech would be mounted on the drivers side of the bay. I am not planning on running an inter-cooler...which is another reason for low boost.
I have been looking at stuff that builds power up to 7K rpm and I think that is way too high. I want this thing to make power under 6K rpm and be mainly for the cruising around town. So the power will be mostly down low to get the Big B-Body moving.
Questions:
What alternative port intakes/FI systems should I be looking at?
What is the most "affordable" alternative EFI system?
I want to use Dynamic EFI computer for tuning.
In another thread in the power adder section...it was suggested that selecting the proper camshaft is what will make the combo street-able but I have also read recently that too big of an intake and too big of a TB will make a poor street driver. This sluggish street driving characteristic is what I want to avoid.
Honestly...the power number's don't need to be real high but I wanted 400-425hp and as close to 500 ft. lbs. of TQ. (Considering that the stock power rating for my 93 Caprice was only 180hp/215TQ...even 380HP/450TQ would be a drastic improvement.) I have been told that these #'s are far too low for 8-10 lbs of boost but I am only looking for a tame street driven car that might scare the people sitting outside of the Starbucks down the street from my house while their enjoying Latte's when I drive by.
Any suggestion would be appreciated.
Thanks guys,
JB

Its the system that Inspired me.
I will be making around 800 hp but it's efi. Your numbers may be conservative, as 400+ should be obtainable at around 5 psi (Assuming the tuning/cam/heads are appropriate.)
Also, look here: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/powe...-my-383-t.html
Good luck!
