400whp

The question I have is has anyone on TGO made over 400whp with a 355 TPI without S/C or NOS and with shorty headers?

I've never seen anyone make that claim and I've been here since 1999...
Superram could do it with enough compression....

agree..don't recall seeing one. LT1's yes..quite common to see over 400whp with heads/cam/ported intake and I think I recall seeing one near 500whp with solid roller in a race setup. No reason a TPI based motor you guys build cant do the 400whp...but keeping it smog legal "legally" (read no special techs giving a sticker) is another story.

Re: 400whp

When you or we say "TPI," just how true to a General Motors Tuned Port Injection induction are we talking? Almost immediately in the thread, the Super Ram, Mini Ram, Stealth Ram, First intake, or a (mildly to wildly) modded LTR (TPiS, SLP, ACCEL...) set-up enters the equation. If the HSR qualifies, and I don't think it should, I missed 400 by three little stallions on one day, on one pull, on the same dyno that recent SoCal dyno testing / tuning has been done on. Please define "TPI." Thanx!

If it were me, I would say anything that has tuned runners.

If you are specific, then GM type stock, or with aftermarket runners.

I think my setup will make the 400, as it did 389 with an auto and now it's in my stick car.

Re: 400whp

A thread like this is better suited in the TPI forum. This forum is for is for alternative intakes.

Re: 400whp

Well, I was reading earlier on a LS based forum that some guys were saying that a TPI engine has never hit 400rwhp with cam, heads, intake, bolt-on's and exhaust.

Re: 400whp

I think it's possible, but all the money (And a little luck.) that would be needed to do it, I think you are better off going with an LS swap.
