HSR questions?

Im helping a buddy of mine with a 89 iroc install his HSR intake. Everything went smoothly except Im not sure what the two threaded holes on the front passenger side of the intake are for? We have the coolant temp sensor on the driver side. He says he has no heat so is it ok to just block both of these or im i just missing something. i heard one is for the heater and one is for coolant in the tb correct? He is also having a issue with the throttle but nothing a lil grinding cant do. Thanks

Re: HSR questions?

I have another HSR question. I hav a 1992 Z28, TPI 350, auto car. I hav ealready determined that I am going to install a 383 motor in the car and do away woth the stock 350. Now, a bunch of the guys here talked me out of going with a carb for the most part. The thing is that i know that the stock TPI is crap, so I am lookng at the HSR since it uses factory wiring from what i understand. Does it use the factory idle Air Control valve and the Throttle position Sensor? is the install a PITA? I have never even see one, so i am going by pics online and its difficult to say the least. what all is used in the HSR install? All i have learned so far is tht there is good potentioal for power with it, and that in order to use it, i need to get a LS1 throttle body, special fuel rails, step up to 30 pound injectors, and then locate a tuner for it...

Re: HSR questions?

the throttle body uses the stock tps and iac.... after market throttle body will do....
at least 30 lb. injectors.... the install is fairly easy

All wrong
HSR with it's own fuel rails for $550 uses all stock TPI parts so you don't need any " extras" other
than the plumbing to hook new rails up to original fuel lines in car

Obviously if you did heads / cam / displacement then you would need a tune
and possibly bigger injectors but that is standard for any major upgrade, not just a HSR

I kinda figured that. I'm am just trying to make a plan of attack before I get everything and. Then go oh crap I need..... these cars come stock with 24 pound injectors right? What would I wanna go to with using HSR and 383? 30 or 45 or bigger? I am sure there are tuners all over, but who's the best and most reasonably cost?

you require a certain amount of fuel to generated a certain amount of power.
There are online calculators to work out the injector size required based on engine specs and expected Hp output

Re: HSR questions?

Nice. that looks pretty good. did you bother to port and polish the HSR? Is it worth porting? what kinds of mods on your motor? have a dyno sheet?

i finally got to read that the other day. lots of useful information. i am surprised that I cant find a dynosheet anywhere online. being that the car needs to be dynotuned with a HSR on a motor with mods from what i can tell.

What's it going to tell you ?
Every engine is different so results are going to vary

Not yet, this weekend I am adding World Sportsman II heads, XFI 280 cam, LPW Ultimate cover and axle suport bars, Power Trax Lock Rite, Moser axles, full ARP hardware, and I hope to go faster than 7.8 in the 8th mile, thats how i granaded my rear end last year, 7.8 in the 8th and it all stock from the heads to oil pan, my secret is a TCI Street Fighter 700r4 and 3300 stall, be ready to upgrade your rear end shortly after installing the HSR.
