Please see attached pic at link below. Is this the oil pressure sensor/sender? The fitting that goes into the rear of the engine block is blocking my HSR intake manifold. I may need to get another one at the hardware store. Anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions? Thanks guys!!!

Get a 1/8" NPT male to female adapter to lift block fitting higher

Seperate into 3 pieces. The part that goes into the block screw it on first. Then screw the second piece then the third piece and you're done.

I had to enlarge the cutout in the HSR and grind some of the bottom of the rt angle fitting shown for clearance to do that

That's definitely 1986 stuff.

On some other applications, the large bell shaped sending unit is threaded into an adapter which is threaded into the side of the block on the vertical drivers side bellhousing flange, above the oil filter. That's another option for the SU and switch.

Later models had a combination SU / switch. If compatible with the gauges, that would be another way to clean things up.

Obviously those 2 options would require movement / lengthening of wiring or pigtail changes.

Re: This fitting/sensor is in my way on HSR swap...

Use the new style combo oil pressure sender / fuel pump switch. Its a cleaner install. The sender comes in 1/8 or 1/4 npt size. I used the 1/8. The pigtail fits both. The center wire is for the oil gauge. The sender is for 0-80 psi gauges and more durable the old style. It was used on the 87 and newer engines. I updated in my montecarlo, after blowing out two of the old sending units. In fact, I am going to change the one on my iroc during my engine change.
