Best Cam for my setup
Need help to decide which cam would work best for my setup.
Presently have:
355 cu. in., Edelbrock e-tec 170 heads 64cc chambers, 1.94 Intake, 1.55 exhaust, Vortec Intake, Holley Stealth Ram, 58 MM
Throttle body, 30 lb. Injectors, 1.6 Roller Rockers, Hooker Shortie Headers, 5 speed, Alum. Driveshaft, 3.73 Posi. It's an '89 IROC with a maf.
I want to keep it streetable with a good sound and as much power as I can get.
I have an LT4 hot cam but some have said it's not big enough. What kind of power and what Numbers am I looking at. Need Help. thanks

Re: Best Cam for my setup
I have a ZZ3 with a hot cam . I've got a set of afr 195's (to swap soon) and i'm goin with cc xfi280. (230/236@ .050, .570 lift). I've got a miniram tho. This cam should work well with your combo too. Just make sure your valve springs can handle it.
Re: Best Cam for my setup
I think the LT4 Hot cam would be adequate for your setup, but as suggested above, the XFI 280 would probably be even better. Looking at your list of components, I'd say the one thing that might hold you back from making really good power would be those 170 Edelbrock heads. If you can afford it, putting on a set of AFR 195 Eliminator heads would really help match things up better. On the Eliminator heads, the stock springs that AFR uses on them would probably be enough with the LT4 cam, but if you decide to run the XFI 280, you'd want to upgrade springs. The XFI cams are hard on springs due to the fast and aggressive ramp rates of the cam lobes. If you can't afford the new heads, I guess you'd be okay with the 170's, but they'll probably be a bit of a restriction to your top end capability.
