crazy for wanting to swap superram for HSR?

I've got a superram on a 383 with ported vortecs and a CC503 cam (224/230) in a 2002 Blazer (I know, I know camaro website). I'm in the process of moving the battery to make way for a air intake piping for a D1-SC Procharger and to get rid of the filter on the TB, 195 degree IAT sucks.

Anyhow I have absolutely no room to work on the top end and was considering swapping over to a HSR to give me a little more room, in fact I think it'll be easier to pull the motor just to get the superram off. I only have about 800 miles on the motor and noticed this weekend I have a loud sucking noise comming from the back of the intake, is that normal for the superram? Don't know it it's a vaccum leak or not becasue everything is still being dialed in. If I pull the intake to fix the leak or a camswap because of the blower what better time to swap.

I have access to a new HSR so the only cost I would really be out is for the fuel rails. So being happy with what I have to avoid spending more money really isn't relevant. I did lots of research several years ago before I purchased the superram so the sacrificing low end torque for the upper RPM horse power argument isn't what I'm debating. I was just curious if there are others who have made the swap that regretted it or is it simply a coke vs. pepsi debate where there's no real best choice.

Superram fits the build you have with the vortecs and current cam size. Ported base and runners on that intake will give good gains in power everywhere.

But like you said, having room to work on the top end is nice and superam can be a bear to install. HSR is easy to work on, easy to access everything.

Its up to you. D1 blower will make power on either setup but more rpm with the HSR will have more upper rpm hp and you may see more boost since centri blowers are driven off engine belt. Can your bottom end handle more rpm? The heads wont really support much rpm anyway, so not sure what the HSR will gain. Ported superram works here IMO, just a pain to install and work around.

When I built the motor I though the superram made the most sense as well. With what I have now, the base has been port matched to the heads and the runners/plennum have been cleaned up so everything flows nicely. I didn't remove material on the runer dividers or anything though, just gasket matched. The bottom end is forged scat crank and rods, ARP throughout, pistons are speed pro hyper. which I know is the weak link (long story). I'm not doing anything crazy stupid with the motor as it's my daily driver so boost should stay around 10psi.
