First intake not. Fitting

Hello guys have purchased the first intake for my car and have half way on and running into some isses with the distrubtior fitting with how big the first is over the stock intake any suggestions thanks

What distributor are you using? The FIRST intake requires a small cap.

From the installation instructions:
On large cap H.E.I. distributors you may have to remove some of the casting on the bottom of the distributor to allow sufficient clearance and for timing adjustments.

They used to include a picture in the older install manuals - luckily they have a blurry picture of where to grind on their website.


Before I put on the FIRST I had a HSR that had to have a small cap distributor - so I used the small cap HEI on the FIRST and it fit nicely.

In preparation for the FIRST installation, I converted my 86 over to small-cap knowing I was going to run into this (read through the instruction before I even ordered it).
