Superram base intake ports and AFR head port alignment
Ok so I have my motor torn down in the car at the moment for a cam change. So I decided I wanted to do some porting or making sure ports are going to line up better ect ect. So I notice the intake base ports do not line up with the head ports worth a damn!!! It’s almost like the intake ports on one side would have to move forward and the other side those ports need to move back. The heads are afr with 180 intake ports. I wouldn’t be bothered by this if the step was on the intake side. But it’s on the head side which would cause an obstruction. Has anyone ever seen this? I mean at this point I scrapped the idea of porting. Really don’t want to tear the whole engine down or send parts out to be all matched up so I guess I’m at a loss. I’ll probably end up slapping this sucker back together. Oh well.

If I recall, my HSR intake and AFR 220 heads had the same issue. Engine runs fine, lots of power. Not really sure what you'd do to resolve this.

I ended up doing a little grinding to get rid of the lip on those 4 ports. Didn’t want to do it but I said screw it. Looks better now.

4 of the ports matched up perfect. But it seems their ports are just a little wider apart. The middle wall between the ports on the heads are thicker than on the intake. I have it better now. I’m not going to go crazy over it. Just wanted that obstruction gone.
