I had one of those 4 barrel setups on my 82 w a stock 82 TA hood. I couldn't get the hood to close w an air filter. So in ended up w a hood scoop. Now I have a pro flo xt and a stock hood again. That fits. I clearanced the hood brace a little bit that's it.
Hi thanks everybody I'm awaiting delivery later this week looking forward to getting it up and running .at last after all the trouble with the fitec .be nice to drive the car again stil a way to go but I see the light at the end of the tunnel 😀
Hi all whot have you dun with the fuel suply from the tank to the pressure regulator .is the firebird metal lines up to it
have I got to replace them .any input gratefully received
The pro flow has a fuel pressure regulator that is pre set to 43 or 58 psi depending on your need. On my initial setup, I used the stock fuel lines on my car. The feed is a 3/8 and that is OK. The return on these cars is like 1/4 or something. The smaller return caused my in line fuel pump to run hot and fuel pressure issues. So I ran two 6AN lines from the tank to the front of the car. I also swapped to an Aeromotive stealth setup w the 370lph pump. Your fuel system requirements will depend on your HP to a degree but the rule of thumb is the return line should be as large as the feed. This not only keeps the pump happy but the fuel cooler in general. These cars can have hot fuel issues DT the tank sitting right over the muffler.
thanks firechicken82
at the moment my 88 has uprated fule pump in tank then from thear is stock fuel lines
from tank to filter .and return.how did u get over this with an6 lines im gessing i gan go from filter to reg no problem.its the return to tank that has me !
im estimated with cam heads pistons etc around 450 hp give take few !
nice dont realy want to spend another 800 then inport it to uk which is a small fortune on top
im going to take tank out again and ill see whot i come up with .thanks again for yore hellp
ow how i love the fule tank removal !
You could also pull your tank and modify the sender. Edelbrock make these sump kits. They mount in the engine compartment. I have a friend w a 69 Camaro w the sump kit. He's happy w it.
Going to remove tank and have a look at removing the return pipe and replace it with the correct size pipe till tank on floor in front of me I won't know weather this is possible 😅
You can totally drill and place a fuel line bulkhead. I've seen people do it. You can also order that stealth tank sender pump combo without the tank. Shipping would be much less and the bigger pump will easily feed a 450 hp engine. You totally have options. I detest pulling that tank!
When u think in 1982 the 3rd gen was way ahead of it's time whot was thay thinking with that tank .but I guess that's part of the reason thay handel so we'll!
Thanks for the pics did u go through the manifold or round it with the loom I have put mine through it and the iat plug only comes to end of manifold .this is all mocked up nothing bolted down yet
Same ill have another look at it tomorrow. Thay don't give u a lot of wire !
I was hoping to put these up in the car using the aerial hole u der wing to get access but loom to short and plug to big but that easy to get over the loom length not so easy .
thanks again
HI ALL thanks for yore help hear it turns out the engine is dead
not happy dunno whot to do know
heads new aparently un salvageble
crank scored
cam has groves
lifters strange wear
muck in sump
metal everywhear
totaly lost as to why
no never ran with pro flo 4 xt
dunon whot to do now !
HI firechiken you have been the most help on this forum up to date and thank you
im gessing you have built yore own engine in yore firebird
after geting the edelbrock i discoverd sum problems with me engine
long story would you know anything about the chevy 880 block as i have a few problem that i cant find an answer to !
Yeah, I have an 880 block in my car. By no means an expert on blocks/engine stuff but I'll answer what I can. Either way, there are tons of people on here who know lots about blocks and 880 blocks.
i have posted a question but no replys
has the 880 block got ofset con rods
ive read sumwear that thay have ofset rods to stop piston slap with the short skirt pistons fitted
after stripping my engine ive found pistons that the part no indicates for 1969/70 350 engine
bit confused not verry happy just after confirmation on ofset rod ! so i can find pistons
Some engines came w offset pistons. 880 blocks come many different ways as far as builds. The 880 is just the block. Those blocks were used in zz4, LT engines, trucks. Is there something your looking to do w yours

Re: edelbrock 35760
These engine don't have offset rods.
They have a piston where the centerline of the pin bore in the piston is very, very slightly offset to the centerline of the piston. There is an indicator mark on the top of the piston which means this side toward the front of the engine to make sure you have installed the pistons the correct way around so the pin offset is to the correct side of the cylinder bore.
Ok tha k u
hears the problem the machine shop that did the work put ordinary pistons from a 1969/70 fitment 350 on the 880s rods is this ok being as thay are of center /offset in the origanal assembly dus this make a difrence ?
Thay assembled block and head assembly's.
from whfrom no I have found the 880 has,a short barrel .so has short skirt pistons so thay don't rock at bdc
so short skirt means less stability in block hence rod offset to help pre ent piston slap
So dus 1969 piston desire create a problem
The pistons fited have realy bad stuffing on the thrust side of the piston for no apparent reason the bores don't have scoring I. Them but very od wear patern to barell u can not see this in a picture
I'm trying to understand what has hapend a d how to prevent this hapening again the engine as described cost me in excess of £5000
Ok with a tape measure !
from top to bottom of barely in 880 block 5.357 inch
010 block 5.625 inch
So this 880 barrel dus not go as far into center of block !
