Anybody have the autometer white gauges in their car?

I was looking at thire site and it says they are electric. Now does the speedometer come with its own VSS that you just wire straight to the trans with outgoing throgh the computer? If it does I'm getting them cause they look pretty nice. Any pix?

I'm not sure about the VSS but they do look nice. Oil filled guages are cool but I hope my car never shakes so bad that I need them.

Well maybe someday. But I'm 22 with a kid on the way in 3 months. That someday is a long way away.

They have both types of speedometers in both series, the Ultra Lite ( silver face and bezel, black numbers / letters )

These prices are from a jegs i have here:

4487: Electric VSS speedo 3 3/8" 120 MPH- $189.99
4488: Electric VSS speedo 3 3/8" 160 MPH- $189.99
4486: Electric VSS speedo 3 3/8" 200 MPH With LCD Odometer- $189.99

4489: Electric VSS speedo 5" 160 MPH - $199.99
4490: Electric VSS speedo 5" 200 MPH - $205.99

4492: Mechanical 3 3/8" 120 MPH - $75.99
4495: Mech 5" 160 MPH - $112.99
4496: Mech 5" 200 MPH - $121.99

4497: 3 3/8" 10k RPM Tach - $88.99
4494: 5" 10K Tach $128.99

Pricing is similar for the phantoms ( black bezel and letters with white face.

The senders you should be able to use your stock one I believe as im using the stock one to my T56, but thats a 4 pulse im quite sure and some of the others are 2 pulse ? but it may accept both.

Dont think I could use my sender. I have to get the mech. gauges cause something on my speedometer is cracked out. I had a trans shop put in a sender from the old gear driven trans. (came from a camaro same year) When I hook up the VSS and go 10 mph it jump to 120 and kills the engine. I'm tired of asking around on how to fix it so the best way to get it done is to rip it out. No one has a clue on this problem. Dealerships, mechanics from trans shops and speedometer shops are afarid to answer thinking that they might say the wrong thing. I think its got to be a bad VSS.

>thanx for the price though, cant beleive they wont post it on their own site.

Well heres my guess at whats up with it, theres several vss's as far as i can tell at least two, so you may have a bad one or may be the wrong one or combination, painless lists two different ones, early tpi/all tbi and then late tpi / all LT1, so maybe thats where its going wrong, i'd try replacing that first just cause its probably causing hell with the ecm.

I have a full set of phantom guages in my car. I think they look great. I have a 5" electric speedo, 5"tach, 2 1/16" oil press, water temp, volt meter, fuel level, and fuel pressure. I hope to have some pics of my car soon.
As far as price goes. I have close to seven hundred in all by the time it was all said and done.
btw I am using the stock vss in my 94 4l60e.
You have to pay extra for the vss from autometer. It doesn't come with the speedo.
Hope this helps.
Kory
