polished wheels

Question about polished wheels, done a search on this topic, and have come to the conclusition that after polishing the wheels, do not clear coat the polished area. Why?

i know that after time clearcoat can turn yellow and not so clear anymore. plus anything you polish needs to continuously be polished with like mothers or something along that lines to keep the polish part looking good

The clear coat will eventually dull and it won't look as reflective.

Besides if your rim gets scratched badly or scraped against a curb you wont have to restrip the clear off to fix the damage. What kind of rims are you looking at polishing?

85: I have a set of 88 IROC wheels that I a doing. Ive got the first one stripped and am polishing it out now. Looks good. I spent a good part of yesterday working on it. Did all of the sanding by hand and polishing. I am going to repaint the inner parts of the wheel , but I havent picked a color yet. Probally some matelic grey, or Argent Silver.

Aw you got the easy 3rd gen rims to polish. I have never hand sanded polished anything before. I polish all my stuff with pro polishing equipment with power tools and a bench grinder with polishing wheels and compounds. Here's my z28 rims that I did, if i'm lucky one of my frineds will be getting a 90 rs with IROC rims that he said I can have. I'll polish them up and install on my car

Yeah thats the last thing i've been needing to do the rims. After I paint them when theres a nice warm and sunny day i'll install the center caps too. 1 black rim that needs to be repainted and 3 white ones I cant wait for summer to come back.
