Etched glass t-tops...

I've thought about making my car unique, and thought it would be kinda cool to get some sort of glass etching solution and etch some flames in my t-roofs. I think it would be kinda cool, and original, having frosted, etched, flames in my t-roofs. the only consideration I have in doing this is, will my t-roofs become brittle? Also, what type of solutions are there? I know there has to be something out there.
Please comment! thanx...

That's a sweet idea - I don't think it'd make them brittle at all. Let your fingers do the walking through the yellow pages and call up a couple of shops that do that sort of thing to ask them. I've always thought about doing that too - just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Just make sure you do it right, ttops are not cheap to replace.

actually i think it is better to use a sand/media blaster to do it.

Interesting idea.....might want to go to a good sign shop, they should have etched glass vinyl. Like the stuff they use for putting names on glass office doors. Tell them what you want(design) and have them cut it. Need to tell if you want to stick it on the inside or outside. Stuff looks exactly like real etched glass and is gauranteed for like 10 years. If you like it, leave it on or take it off and do it for real, if not peel it off and you won't have to buy new "T's"......just a thought

If you don't want to pay an outrageous price to have someone etch or 'blast it, you can get the same effect by acid etching. These kits can be picked up at any crafts store and is a helluva lot cheaper than the aforementioned.

good ideas...thanks.
I heard that you can sand blast glass to make it frosted. I'm gonna experiment on some pieces of glass I have lying around the house.
I know that I wouldn't want to fug up on my T's, because they're the after market ones. I'll let you guys know how it turns out with some pics soon.
