Just go over the car carefully and keep the clay area wet at all times. The clay bar removes all impurities and will remove paint if you rub the same area too much. also, throw the clay away if you drop it. It will scratch the car. As for the polish, keep using Wizards. You'll probably like it just as much as Zaino!

The clay bar should come with it's own lube in a spray bottle.. If not, then use a solution of water and car soap, never water alone.

Back and forth motion. This keeps potential swirl marks to a minimum. (If you make fine scratches they'll be in a straight line instead of little circles, therefore will be less noticable).

The clay bar draws out any impurities in the paint. This includes fallout, dirt, sap and rail dust. If you lightly run your hand down a section of paint, you might feel some minor bumps. The clay bar draws them up into the bar and off the paint, leaving a perfectly smooth finish. Even without wax.

Why don't you want to use just water alone? I did my wifes entire car this way and it turned out fine. Is there a reason for it or is it just a recommendation?

Exactly, mine slid off the hood, but it was salvageable.

The surface must be wet as possible, mine came with Mothers Polish spray. Just rub the clay bar back and forth lightly and you'll hear the contaminants being picked up like a gritty sound, once that sound goes away move on to the next spot.

I'm pretty sure you have to stretch it a lot too so you don't drag the stuff you pulled out all over the paint.

You're supposed to roll it into a ball and flatten it out after doing a few spots, or I just did it when it got dirty looking.

Do you have to dawn your car before using it?

You don't have to, but I have heard it is recommended. The Dawn will remove the wax. If you don't wash it with Dawn first, then the claybar will remove the wax and fill up sooner.

It's even worse when you're experiencing it the first time. Feels and sounds like rubbing two clay pots together. You start to wonder if it's really a good idea until it finally smooths out and the paint is so smooth. Then you're hooked.
