I like it! That thing has an ultra clean appearance. However, I don't know if it was possible to get an IROC from the factory sans louvers and a spoiler.
BTW, those look like 17" wheels. I could be wrong...

I think that's how the story goes, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I love that car. Somewhere I think I have a copy of the owner's window sticker. He bought it new in 85. Awesome car. The next incarnation of my IROC may follow that style.

anyone found any other pictures?
Especially on the rear? I'd like to see what they did with no TPI emblems on the back. Or I guess you'd say how it looked.

If you weren't in California in 1985, you've probably never seen one of these. Even in California not too many people are aware of them. It's called the "California IROC". Produced only at the end of the 1985 model year at the Van Nuys, Ca. plant before it closed forever. Only 500 (I've also heard 502) were built. The RPO code is 1C5 (California Promotional Package). Of course, each one sports the B4Z RPO (IROC-Z Performance Package), including 16" wheels. In addition, I've never seen one that wasn't equipped with TPI/700R4 and 3.42 gearing. The only colors that were available were red (400) and black (100). They came from the factory with no hood louvers, no rear deck spoiler, no IROC-Z lettering, no stripes, and no TPI markings. A real sleeper, for sure. The window sticker shows a $75.00 credit for the deleted items on RPO 1C5. This recent picture is exactly how it looked when I took delivery of mine in mid 1985, with the exception of the polishing/painting of the original wheels, and the custom center caps. It hs 43K miles currently, and the original paint and interior are still nearly like new. When not being driven it is always garaged.

Damn! That side shot is awesome!
The deletion of the louvers and spoiler plus the fact that its a hard top make that thing look smooooooth!

:hail: That is just about the cleanest/smoothest G3 I've ever seen. Its just got such a simple, clean look to it I love it. Honestly, and this just just IMO, but I've never really cared for hood louvres. I'm not totally sold on the spoiler delete but on this car, I almost like it. I'd have to see it from the back though. But yeah, I like that.

the ca rin that link looks to be a regular old IROC with no door decals... Not too bad looking IMO, except the bump strips on the door are all crooked. But i seriously doubt thats a true california IROC....

but the magic of ebay is that you only have to find one sucker that doesnt know what he is bidding on. My car could be only one of 100 made if you factor in all the options and color schemes.
I was guilty of it once. Learned my lesson to pay better attention. Anybody interested in a 91-92 110mph gauge cluster? lol

That may be one of them on ebay. All of the information I have says that the "california" edition was a regular IROC with no decals. It never mentioned the spoiler and hood delete. Cal Rocs is the first and only that I've seen that way. If it wasn't for seeing his window sticker, I'd have called
on him.

I love that car. Just wondering how my maroon Iroc would look with no spoiler. have to go get a smooth hood though, shouldnt be hard to find. bottom line, sweet car.
I have ALWAYS loved that car....
If I do another thirdgen, I'm going to do it California style. I have a hardtop ready to do it on. I'm torn between building a California IROC or my dream Malibu.
Did anyone else notice that there are no side moldings on that car? I think that is a big part of what makes it look so smooth. I took all the side molding off my car and I like it much better that way.

I emailed the guy a few days ago and called him out on his "california iroc". I didnt get a response yet though, i was wondering if anyone had???
this is what i wrote him:
"did you put the hood, the rear spoiler, TPI emblems, and paint it yellow. or is
this not a real california iroc."

First off, that IROC is BEAUTIFUL! It looks very clean and finished with out all the trim. BTW Who owns the black CA IROC we are talking about? I see several people have posted info about it. Second, has it been lowered? Its stance looks a little lower than stock and with such low mileage I doubt the springs are sagging. Third, Phyte.... where in Austin are you located? Do you ever come out to the car show at I-35 and 79 in the parking lot of Gattiland in front of the Hunan Lion resturant? Give me a shout sometime, jeff@hardwayracing.com
