Hi Phil.
The only one that is finished is the black RS. Red air suspension one is still undergoing surgery. Which reminds me. Thanks for the good luck for the third! My very own surgery!

Hi PM. Good one
After completely blowing away this site with the photos of your car, you will surely be welcome! Didn't you say you were going to the show in Portsmouth?

Andy.

Hi all.
I'm back from my leg op! Remind me to never ever do it again!
Nitrous oxide is okay for cars, but it makes me b****y sick every time when it is used as an anasthetic!!

Anyway, I have been told not to drive for 2 weeks-which takes it to the 17th. Then I have to try an emergency stop to see if it hurts!! Crossing fingers for the Sunday or Monday at Billing then. My Wife is not at all keen on driving the Camaro!?????

So during my first day, of 2 weeks off work, I have resisted any car jobs until 2 pm this afternoon when I couldn't stand it any longer and I have taken the passenger door mirror off the black RS to straighten it a bit when it got gouged in the accident before I bought it! Been meaning to do it for ages.
Might even polish up those '81 Vette valve covers I have for Billing!
This leg surgery might not be so bad after all!!

PM
You have just GOT to go to Billing! Show us all up good style.

Andy (body parts missing) Fanshawe.

Andy,
Glad to hear you're OK, spare us the details though! Can't believe you're gonna get paid to "shine your covers"

You'd better be there, missus driving or not

Rest and Relaxation.

Hi all.
I am taking it easy! Honest!

On the subject of relaxation, I managed to make a brilliant job of straightening and spraying the passenger mirror!

No one will ever know (even if they take it apart) that it was ever damaged! Except for you lot of course.

And tomorrows job is the first in a series of jobs aimed at fitting the blue thing in this picture!

Recognise it? An original equipment aero spoiler.
Luckily, I can weld up the old holes in the bodywork standing up, and I can drill the new holes and spray the quarter panels and hatch spoiler also standing up! So no strain on my new varicose vein free right leg!! Good idea eh?

Regards to all.

Andy.

PS PM. No more mods to your car right? Give the rest of us a chance.

PPS I may go to the Doncaster "max Power" show next weekend to see what the young 'uns are doing! Might be able to pick up a good subwoofer or two!

looks like we should have a good gathering of some impressive cars at billing!

Paul, i'll PM you a few days before, but if you want, i'll give you a hand to co ordinate the TGO effort.

I guess the best way to do this, would be to PM everyone with a number a few days before, and when you get there, we can all find everyone!

Test posting!

Lets see if I can link to this web site then!

This photo (if you can see it) is called "camaro in the work car park".

If you can't see it then just ignore it while I have a tantrum.

Some questions for you guys.
1) How much to get in? We're bringing 2 cars-the family car and the Camaro. Fitting 2 kids, a buggy, a picnic and a good lady Wife in a Camaro is not going to be possible I don't think!?

2) What time can we get there?

3) Any directions for me from J15, bearing in mind I have never been there 'afore!

Thanks.
Andy.

Andy,
Have a look on the AAC site for a few details.I think you can turn up at any time.Billing is a huge facility and holiday complex so there are no opening/closing times.
As far as directions ,if you are coming off the M1 J15 just get on the A43 then A45 and stay on the A45 bypassing Northampton to the south and travelling east. You will soon see the signs for Billing which is only about 1 mile off the motorway.
Also check out the Billing site www.aquadrome.co.uk

cheers

John

Oh geez

Thats awful!!

Did you get her reg number..........if you did i'd call the cops mate!

Or..the other thing you can do ( I think i'm right on this...any of you other uk guys know for sure??????) is to request her name and address from the DVLA at Swansea, i'm sure that if you stipulate that the vehicle in question was in an accident they are allowed to disclose the info....

Worst case scenario is that when you submit a claim via your insurance company they'll be able to trace the vehicle.

If it's any help to you in the meantime i've done some searching and if you go to www.findit.co.uk and search in car spares under camaro someones selling pukka wings and doors.

Hope you get it sorted mate.

Phil

Phil,
She stopped alright, and I got her vehicle details as well as bogus personal details which I've passed on to the insurance company.

BTW, don't go near the geezer from Watford selling 3rdgen parts, I, and others have had "not at advertised" products from him.

Paul, that realy sucks, i have heard how good your car is, and am looking forward to seeing it, damaged or otherwise, even if you cant get it sorted, bring it anyway!

Andy,

From J15 on the M1, Billing couldn't be easier, just follow the signs for Northampton / Wellingborough , and keep driving down the A45. Billing Aquadrome is clearley signposted, you need to go about 10 miles down the A45, and the signs are there. you can see the Static Caravans from the 45.

as you come down the M1, northampton will be towards your left. its clearly posted, just follow signs for Northampton A45.

if you don't pass a Hilton hotel (quite small, but easy to see), and a Toby Carvery (both on your left) very soon after taking the 45, you turned the wrong way.

Edit - the Hilton is on Junction 15, you can also use 15a, but i personaly would use 15. either way, get on the A45, and your almost there. I'lll PM you my mobile number middle of next week, if you get lost, call me.

Billing is open every day, unless you pre booked with AAC, its about 11 quid, per adult (? not sure on this one, it might be 11 quid for the pitch and not the number of people) per night. I have been told that you can have two vehicles per pitch, My Father spoke to Harry Tune to confirm this, because we have my 86 Camaro, his 96 Tahoe, and a 16 foot caravan, all on one pitch!

Good luck. Make sure you inform the cops though-just in case.

I hope she rots in the firey pits of hell for that! 1 in 12 cars on the roads in the UK are un-insured! Scarey stuff. Even if they are caught they get a £300 fine... not surprising!

Def. bring the car sorted or not! It could have been a lot worse! Count your lucky stars the cars ok, and you of course!

Got these bits from Oldcott motors today, (I was "working" in a mobile environment ) I've prepped the wing, but it does have a bit of snot in it covering a couple of dings, but it's probably better than my existing wing (i.e. before it was smacked!). Had to get the front window runner to acquire the "quarter glass" plastic triangle, and it all cost me the princely sum of £150...bit steep, but I wanted them now.

BTW USAutomotive quoted me only £85 plus VAT for a new wing...can't wait 3-4 weeks, plus 4-6 weeks for the insurers garage to get a grip...Looks like I'll be taling this one on the chin, or try and cut some sort of deal with the insurers.

UK,

I dont think that wing would be much good for £85 new.Reading some of the postings on here,it seems some of the aftermarket panels don't fit that well.
Keep us all informed of how you are progressing.Maybe Fanshawe will give you a few quid from his sick pay to help out

Mr Fanshawe spent about an hour on the phone with me last night so I could b!tch about the b!tch! His sick leave next Wednesday is hopefully going to involve changing the wing over, as long as I can get is sprayed in time.

Teachers? Pay? Sick pay? We do it for the love of the job.

Paul.
I left you a reply on AAC to the effect that if you can get the paint in the right colour, and Karl can't get it painted, I will do it for you. No charge. No delving into sick pay for this. Ouch, my leg hurts.

Andy.

Andy,
I'm taking the wing down to Karls place in the morning, (although he wanted to see if he can repair the damaged wing in situ...haven't got the time given I've got to take the door apart), so I'll know if he can do it in time. Paint shouldn't be a problem, as it was his mix. He gave me half a large coffee jar of the paint when I bought it, of which I've got about two fingers worth left..Ok about 190ml, is that enough to paint a wing?

Andy.

I'll be bringing my camera too! Look forward to meeting all of you and the cars we hear so much about

Classic American Nats is on 17/18th May weekend and it is at Shakespeare County Raceway which is in Warwickshire. It's in this months CA magazine. I will just go on the Sunday for some 1/4 mile action. If you haven't been down the strip before it is highly addictive and gets the adrenaline pumping! Not 100% about the dates as I don't have the info at hand.

See you soon!

Robbie,

Billing is just near Northampton, off the A45. Look for junction 15 M1 and go from there.

Phil.

Rob:

Yes seriously. It's "only" about 350 miles from us!

And yes, I'll probably go to the Classic American Nationals as well.
