I really really really love the look of the big block hood. Problem is I have a 1989 GTA and the only big block hoods I’ve seen are for the 82-92 camaro and both 4th gen. cars. Is there anyone at all who makes big block hoods for the third gen. firebirds ?

If there isn’t, would it be at all possible to make a big-block hood for the camaro fit on a 1989 GTA ? I understand that it wouldn’t be a direct fit b/c it would require cutting panels out of the hood so the lights can go up and down but would the rest of the hood still line up correctly ? I have a friend who does excellent work at a body shop so cutting is not a problem =D

I might be wrong, but I believe the firebirds have more slope too. That could make things interesting.

 

I think ATOMonkey is right. I think Firebirds noses slope more.

i got an e-mail back from hawk's thirdgen parts about the hood - they can make me a big block scoop for my existing GTA hood for 150 + S&H + tax

Would it hurt the car's handling much to put a hole in the hood to make this scoop functional ? i kinda think it wouldn't, and i'm adding SFC's and an STB anyway so it can't hurt too much.can anyone photoshop that scoop on? here are some source images
