Well, I had some body work done a while ago and one of the things I wanted taken care of was this crack over the driver side window. So he fixed and it looked fine for about 6 months. Then it started to come back so I took the car back in because he did a crapy paint job and asked him to fix all the stuff that he didn't do or did a crapy job on before. When I brought up the crack he said that it was a factory defect and because of body flex between the 2 sub frames this crack develops as a result of the torsion forces acting on a weld in that area. Is this true? I hate this crack and it really bugs me because I have to see it every time I get in the car. I do have SFC and I intend to put them on, only there is a conflict with my headers and I need to do some fab work also for them to fit. If I put these on will it fix this problem?

Sounds to me like he didn't fix the crack properly. Had he welded and stress-relieved the area correctly, it shouldn't have come back so quickly.

Well, this time he welded in a new tab to replace the area rusted out by the crack. How would you go about stress releaving the roof area? There really isn't much you can do up there, that was what I was hoping to accomplish with the SFC.

SFC's will virtually eliminate the body flex thats causing the stress cracks!

It's no so much a defect as it is a byproduct of the uni-body flexing. My car has that crack on the pax side. Install your SFCs before you get it "fixed" again, or it'll just reappear. I just installed my SFCs and the car drives like a new car now - no more squeeks & rattles!

Unfortunatly it's already at the body shop. Do you think it'll be ok if I take it strait from the body shop to the welders? I'll try to baby it over there so I don't put too much stress on it.
