Gauge Layout Opinions

Sorry I dont have exact pictures to post but I was wondering which dash layouts you guys perfer as in ease and general look of the gauges. I am not talking about overlays or anything like that. Like Pre 90 clusters, 90-92 clusters or 4th gen clusters. These pics are with the overalys but I am talking about the configuration more.

Duh, the first one!!! I'm actually trying to investigate what kind of signals those gauges work off of. If they work off the same tach signals and VSS signals that 3rd gens use, then it could be an EZ swap, but we'll have to wait and see. I am pretty sure the tach signal is gonna be different since 4th gens dont use a distributor, but I bet there is a way to convert the signal with some simple electronics. The VSS signal I'm assuming should be the same, since the 700-R4 and 4L60-E are fairly closely related.

I just noticed you're in Owings Mills. Isn't that were Motorweek (the TV show on PBS) is filmed? Must be nice to have all those nice roads to drive on, punk!

I am sure a lot of people are going to like the 4th gen over the others. I am still not sure. Yeah some of motorweek is filmed at Maryland Public television which is about 2 miles from me. I am half tempted to run up there and ask if they need help testing a vette or something else sweet. They use a lot of stock footing though. Not all the roads are MD roads. I love driving the backroads with the top down though.

I'm wanting something like the whites (the big round ones) but the bright LED's with them. Does someone make these or is it a DIY? Does the fact I have an 88 with the 150 speedo complicate things and limit my choices?

I've semi-confirmed that the 4th gen LT1 tachs hook up with by the same method (Green wire from the distributor, well, opti-spark). So that means that the tach most likely would work without a problem in out cars. I'll try to get my hands on an LT1 gauge cluster to see if this stuff actually works...

I called a GM dealer, and it looks like the part numbers fo the VSS on a 92 Camaro and a 94 Camaro are very different, but that still doesnt mean much. I'm going to try to get my hands on an LT1 cluster so I can test them out.
