Ultimate Camaro discovery!!
Ultimate Camaro discovery!!
Ok, i wasn't sure where to post this, but i think this is the best. Growing up in the 80's i was consumed by some of the pop cultures of the time. i can honestly say that i never really got into cars until i was about 15-16... never really started learning anything about them, until i started coming here 2 years ago. anyway, apparently despite knowing nothing about cars... i've loved camaros for longer than i ever even realized.... jump back about 15 years, and try to remember a cartoon show and a series of toys called "M.A.S.K." it had a bunch of heroes who drove cool cars that transformed when they put on their special masks, and a real catchy theme song, lol (i stayed in a lot as a kid, lol). so anyway... i finally confirmed that the main hero's car named "Thunder Hawk" was, in fact a camaro. with t tops and some snazzy pop up doors.... oh yeah, and it became a jet when the tail lights rolled up to reveal jet engines(perhaps a future mod
). i probably wasted the time of most of you, but for those of you who remember the show take a gander at this cool stuff
someone's gettin' new bed sheets, hehe, lol:lala:

"MASK crusaders working all the time fighting crime..." I think thats part of the song....
(I have it on mp3)
I used to love that show...I had that car actually cant remember what happened to it...( too many years ago)...
ah the memories....

you can still find the MASK stuff lurking around. I only have the hotwheel version since i am running out of room for the larger scale stuff. On EBay those toys can fetch a good price.

I owned the camaro....the 57 chevy (that dropped down another set of wheels and became a 6 wheeler)...a few of the motorcycles that turned into a helicopter and one into a hover jet....a big orange car...think it was a chevelle or an oldsmobile...tires flipped up and turned into a tank treads...a big grapling hook came out of the trunk....
Oh how I wish I had those toys again....I think my mom sold them for a quarter at a yard sale years ago.....ahh memories.

I had that jeep, that boat would shoot loike 30 feet when I pressed the button. I always had to get my dad to put it back together. I can't believe they used such a massive spring in a kids toy. (Or at least it seemed massive back then)

Cool Ive been meaning to search my attic because I think I still have the Camaro and 57 chevy up there somewhere.
And speaking of old toys does anyone remember micro machines? I found mine in my closet the other day. I have a bunch of 2nd gens. No 3rds. Did they even make a thirdgen?

success!!! the beautiful camaro, named "Thunder Hawk" is sitting on my desk... it's a beauty.... so what if the wings don't flip up all the way, and the spoiler doesn't go all the way down to conceal the jet engines (i just pretend it has a broken hatch motor
) i'm just happy i found it.... went around all day asking my friends, new and old, if they remembered the mask cartoon.... only 1 out of hundreds (5 or 6, lol) did... and that one doesn't appreciate camaros anyway. just thought i'd let you know, that i found it... along with plenty others... goodluck searching the attics fellas

Good grief...never even thought about old toys resembling or even modeled after current vehicles of the time. That brings back a ton of memories. As a matter of fact I know I had the Camaro at one point, the dune buggy, The Semi which rocked and also a super tanker truck that opened up and had all kinds of goodies including a big rubber missle.
You know it is amazing some of the crap your mother will save without you know it, but it sure comes in handy at midnight to show people what you are talking about...lol.

Hey Billsfirebird, I remember that one! Wow, I haven't thought about that in years. I had the toy of the guy with one bare arm, and a large bird or something. It's been too long...
Was there a 3rd gen Transformer? The closest I can remember offhand was Smokescreen (blue car, sprouted wings and flew on occasion), but I think he was a 'vette...
Well look at that, this was my 100th post. That didn't take long.

As a kid, I had this huge plastic 82-84 Z-28....it was around the size of Barbie's convertables. I also remember owning a black "IROC 'N ROLL" t-shirt that I got when I went to see the IROC race at Michigan International Speedway....I doubt anybody cares, but just figured i'd share. F.Y.I...I still have the MASK Camaro....classic.

My buddy had a huge TONKA (or Tonka like) Firebird w/ a gold screaming chicken on it. Due to him having that toy, it is the first car I remember pointing out and stating what it was. That toy, plus my Knightrider toy are great memories. I can't tell you how many times I took that Firebird and launched it down his steps.........G0d I feel old now.
Thanks a lot guys.....

I never heard of M.A.S.K. growing up. I found a discovery myself. On the Simpson's episode where president Bush sr. moves in Abpu, the Kwiki mark clerk, drives a red 2ndgen Trans Am. Also, in the episode where Bart kills a bird, Nelson shoots at a stripped out 2ndgen Camaro.

Hey does anyone remember this cartoon? Everyone thinks Im crazy when I explain it. It was about a group of kids. The one kid, when he got mad, or scared or something would morph into a red firebird. Its so hazy...like the MASK toys! Damn they were cool. But does anyone remember that cartoon...and the name of it????? I havent seen it since I was really young. It was probably on in the early-mid 80's. Let me know if you remember!
