Re: wHO THE FU@K ARE YOU DIC*KHE#@D????

The F/X designs front clip kind of reminds me of the GT style that I love so much. I think they were going for a Roadracing / GT look with that clip ... but I'm not really sure. Something like this car ...

iroc2nv, do you know if that clip is functional or not? And how much do you think it would cost?

Both are meant to create more downforce with the least ammount of drag possible. A wing attaches to the top of the car, while a spoiler attaches to the front lower lip, sides, or lower rear. Bodykits can be considered spoilers if they are actually designed for functionality and not just looks.

I think thats right but dont quote me on it

I agree. He's my message board hero.

He is the main one who really backed me up when I first came on the boards. I was getting ripped big time for my car when I linked a guy to my clear frt lenses on my new car domain site. Steve came gallantly to my rescue. He has managed to back me up time and time again.

Hey redraif, We got your back!

Dont let dumb asses **** you off, Its not worth it. They are afraid of what is different. Alot of people dont like my stripes and rims, but do I care. Its my money and my time put into my car.

About the motor, If I were local, Id put a motor in your car for a pizza and a 6-pack. I have done it before, and would help me keep honing my mechanical skills.

Crazyhawaiian.

Like I told raif, Its your car. You pay for it, do what you want. Its your time and money. Life is too short to not do what you enjoy.

You like drifting, I like drag racing at the track. But Im not going to knock the sport, or you for doing what you like.

Everyone, Keep modding and make your car into whatever you want it to be.

Aw shucks; well, you make it easy on me pretty lady.

I just get tired of the lamers that show up thinking that they're Go<x>d's gift to the automobile. Sometime's it's unbelievable really, the amount of flat out hatred that goes into some of these ridiculous posts. To think that someone would spend the time to post 'spew' really rocks my faith in the intelligence of the common man; sometimes down to the point where I think most of them ARE a bunch of mouth breathers.

What's even more annoying is that these clowns show up and act like what they're saying is original. They don't bother following the thread, they don't bother with constructive criticism, they don't bother with NOT POSTING... Oh no, they bother with the same old, same old, in all CAPS, ranting like a four year old who just got his pee pee smacked. Ad nauseum.

As has been pointed out many times, it just ends up getting threads locked that may have given someone a kick@ss idea. It is REALLY, REALLY old. I won't let it stop me from doing what I want with my car, and I won't "shut my fvcking trap" - especially when I'm "not being talked to." Bring it.

Keep on keepin' on,
S.

How many times do you drive down the street, see another 3rd gen and wave? I do it all the time. And only with 3rd gens. I love to see another third gen and cruise up next to it just because we look bad *** driving down the street. We are on the same team. And we all know how it goes becasue most of us do the same repairs at some point or another (and usually we do it ourselves because we take pride in what we drive). Anyone can go out and buy a 2002 f-body and have no probs. Driving a 3rd gen is a challenge. And finding mods for our cars is tough as everyone knows. There just aren't as many different mods for our cars out there (at least from the limited looking I've done). So if you find something that works for you and sets you apart from the rest of the crowd, well then, by all means.............

Thanks Steve, Bluegrassz...

Hey just curious, you guys post much on camaroz28.com? I thought most were pretty laid back over there, but Joe made the mistake of using my car as an illustration for a guy who had just gotten colored tint.

Story time: Dude had a black car with orange tint. He made it sound like it did not stand out enough for his taste and he was thinking of double layering it. Well, Joe said he could put mirror behind it like I did. So he linked to my site. That was so not the thing to do. It got ugly quick. Even the orange tint guy was a jerk. It just amazed me. I always heard they were pretty nice over there. I guess it only takes a few to spoil it for the rest. Both posts went ballistic over my car. So of course I got wind and went to defend my car on one post from the scum and then they started in on me. Joe finally had a moderater close that one down.

You guys just don't get it

OK so I was a bit harsh on my first reply, I think it is hilarious how you guys get so pissed about someone giving negative input on your cars. I could care less what you guys could say about my cars cause I built them and love them, It'll just let me know that you guys don't like them.

That Corvette that Crazy Hawaiin posted -

by my statements that car is rice huh, well -
THE CAR HAS STICKERS ON IT BECAUSE IT HAS SPONSERS NOT BECAUSE THEY FEEL LIKE PUTING STICKERS ON TO MAKE IT LOOK COOL.
THAT CAR MOST LIKELY RUNS IN EXCESS OF 200 MPH, THATS WHY IT HAS A MONSTER SPOILER ON IT.

I GET PISSED WHEN I SEE FRONT WHEEL DRIVE CARS WITH HUGE WINGS ON THEM BECAUSE IT PRODUCES A REVERSE EFFECT OF WHAT IT SHOULD. YES A SPOILER IS FOR DOWNFORCE, PRODUCING TRACTION TO THE TIRES CLOSEST TO THE SPOILER.A front wheel drive car with a wing in the back produces less traction in to the drive wheels which will produce skid outs, etc. on a track or course.

For those of you who are offended because I stated that wings/spoilers look *****, that was a broad statment. I like spoilers that are tasteful and serve a purpose. Not huge aluminum deals that stick up over a foot.

As far as what I said about fart mufflers and such, thats self explanitory.

Scauffiel, you are quite a character indeed!!! Calling me a little man and such. I must be little because I saud negative things about someones car and when you talked a bunch of crap, I gave it back. WOW, I wish that I was civil, then maybe everyone would think that you were a jackass for saying what you did to me along with making that retarded hick type R thing. Sorry to offend you, and if you want to call me a little man and all that you for, it just proves how big of a man you are.

so now that this entire thread has become a bitchin match towards me, sorry. REDRAIF I understand that you love your car as much as I love mine, I just think it was a poor waste of time and money on a few of the things that you did, thats all. I don't think your car is all that bad, it does have style, just not to my preference, sorry I offended you.

oh yea here's the list of mods on my car that was said to LOOK LIKE EVERYONE ELSE'S:

91' 305 TBI block with Vortec heads milled to 57cc and super thin .0015 gaskets = about 10.6:1 compression, Crane Cam, Edelbrock intake, Demon Carb, old style HEI, Hooker Headers w/custom y-pipe, and 3 inch back to a dynomax w/ 3.5 chrome pipes out back, Ram Air (air cleaner sticks out of hood and scoop is open),Crane ignition, w/accel wires, Torque conv. lockup switch and B+M shift kit, 3.23 Richmond gears and a Zexel POSI out back, Energy bushings, IROC springs, coil over shocks in rear, Centerline wheels w/ 275's out back, I painted it, 3 coats base, 1 coat pearl, 2 coats clear. Blue pearl on the Arctic Blue, White pearl on the silver. 2-12 inch Kicker Solobarics, 2-10 inch Rockfords, Boston and Oz highs, 3 amps,600 watts.

this car to date has still not cost me over 7,000$$$

I tried waving at some of the 3rd gens, but it did not got over too well. I guess they don't realize its a 3rd gen thing. That and since I'm a girl and most of them are guys...it just got too complicated. And 90% of the girls who drive could car less about the car & look like they would just as soon kill you as look at you. Wave, uh whatever... I think its so cool when people do that though. You see motorcycle guys do it all the time.

ok heres my adding to this post since everyone is being honest here about there cars.

330hp_91RS, You got a nice looking car man.

But here we go, I guess im on 330hp_91RS side on this topic, I truely dont HATE the ones who decide to put body kits and stuff on there cars, I mean I look at it, and im just like .. ugh..
But im not going to bash them for it.. theres no reason to!
Its there money, there time and there taste, everyone has different taste in cars. Ive heard some crazy ideas for cars and body kits etc.. and Im just like.. ok.. do that..

redraif: It looks like you invested a lot of time and money into that car. Becasue those tires alone are quite expensive and the rim conversion must of been a bit pricey. Not to mention that I would most defenatly not buy rims like those for my Camaro, but as long as YOU like them, im very happy for you and I will compliment you on them even though I dont like them, I look at them as being different from others and its a nice change, as for the upside down spoiler on the front, I got no idea why u would do that? Thats a turn off in your car, I have to admit, I dunno the reason for this, looks blah.

As for the rest of the body kits on the rest of the Camaros, I dont like them, but it dosent mean they shouldent do it, If I seen it in person I would probley like it, although the guy with the white camaro it looks like his kit is broken? But on the red and black camaro, I really like the rims on it. And who knows , I might see you in a ONtario gathering mabye, which would be nice, anyways if anyone reads this, this is my thoughts on it.

HERE'S THE MOTOR IN THE BEATER

REDRAIF: this is a $1,000 motor that will run 14 second slips, I hear you boyfriend is a gearhead, have him put it in. A 350 won't cost much more, as long as you get a decent bottom and, you can insatll it and then mod it while it's in the car. Just some thoughts, not trying to prove anything to you.

TO THE GUY WHO TOLD ME TO GROW UP: THANKS ALOT

330hp_91RS:

Moral of the story: Well if you had said it like that the first time, no one would have gotten huffy. That's all we are saying...

Oh and in the end, my joking on your "spoiler" thing...I was just playing with you, giving you a hard time. It doesn't feel so good though does it. You have to watch everything you say or it bites you in the butt. Welcome to my world! Oh, that and none of us have FWD cars so the spoilers are at least in the right place.

Seriously, we don't care if you say you don't like something. Just show some tact when you do it.

Now, I've said that, on to your blue car...It is very nice actually. I like the colors. The light blue with silver stripes and bottom is not that common, good for you. That and NO FAIR you started with a V-8. If I had one and had the knowledge, you bet I would have started there too. So do you do your own work on the motor?

As far as the $1000.00 engine...If I had had the know how that would have worked. But since I now know Joe & we have developed some major plans for the car's motor, we figure if we are going to do the swap, we want it done right. Since I will be showing the car and driving it daily, we wanted to get it all done at once and just swap it over. No build up as you go. To much down time that way. Oh and I also have emissions to deal with, yuck!

Yes I do

REDRAIF: I do everything, those colors you said you like on my Hawaii car, I laid them on,. I've had that car since I was 16, started painting on it and mods six months after I bought it. Then I became a gearhead.

I do all of my own work, i don't totally build motors. I can do a head and cam swap and all that, but I don't know how to assemble a block etc. At least, I've never done it before. Nor do i have the tools here in CA (I'm in college), I bought a cherry picker at Costco and took it back just to drop that motor in 2 months ago!!!

What I think you should do and this is what I did at age 17, get a tech book by Haynes called 'Rebuilding Chevy engines' that and experience is all you need.

Before you bash

I know I sound like a hippocrite about the sticker thing cause I have a 'Chevrolet' sticker on my 91' i was hesitant but put it on and found it quite appealing, not too big, not to bright, I JUST HATE THE STICKERS THAT SAY : 'Ground Zero', or 'Edicted' or 'Over Zealous' or 'So-Low' or ' Excessive' etc. (need I name more?)

YOU GUYS KNOW WHAT I'M TALKIN' ABOUT???

AND PUTTING STICKERS ON THE PAINT WILL RUIN THE PAINT, DON'T DO IT!!!

Thats awesome! I wanted to learn sooner. I had this plan to get a ScoutII and rebuild it myself with a chevy motor. Teach myself with a book. When I got it right, I would tackle my car. But Dad took off and I had to move back in with mom and help out. Long story...

She would not allow me to get the Scout and with my motor still running, she would not allow the swap. Heck I was so happy when the motor died. I tried so hard to convince her to let me find a way to do the swap. The dealer talked her out of it. Believe me, I have wanted a V-8 for 13 years. Just no $, no experience, no time, and no freedom. Well until recently, she got remarried. That and I have a horse, so he gets my $ first. I have had him 15 years and competed for most of my life, since I was 8. Thats where most of my time went.

Well Joe is going to teach me as we go, so all is good now. Oh and I got that ScoutII. Its getting a 500ci Cadillac engine. See I appreciate power.

Tires $150 per. Is that really that high? No matter what I was going to have to run a spacer. They don't make that much in RWD rims or rims with the correct offset that I like. So teh 4 to 5 thing was not much more at all. But I had to have the rims. For some reason I was set on the 3 spoke thing. Not many people care for any 3 spoke rim. But the Serpants went with the dragon theme and they looked so cool rolling, I had to get them no matter what. Plus I had a 5 spoke design for 10 years. It really sucked when the design was bought by prime and ultra and then everyone had them. Made me sick. Though I had the only pair that were RWD in GA. Here is a shot of them. I tried to find a bigger pics, but...

Oh and the spoiler under the bumper. Well the rear looked plain and it swept up so much more than the frt. It needed something in my eyes. Somehow I got this spoiler I dea. I love it in the rear. Give the gfx the more custom look. I think it really compliments the rear. The front was done to match. Because of the angle of the nose it never laid just right. I still like it better with than w/o though. That's why I want to make a custom frt bumper. Purpose of it...It did help direct air to my first cold/ram air set up though. It came out under the car with ducts routed to it. Now we think it helps direct air to the radiator. Car to seems to run cooler with it than w/o it. We have access to a smoke machine at Joe's work and we are going to test it. Be cool it it really does work. Heck when the car is rolling it never gets above 180-190 Degrees. And we have not modded the thermostat. yet.

Re: You guys just don't get it

Question: How does the F/X Designs front clip attach to the car? Does it use the stock factory bolt locations? Just wondering

Why would you have to take a pic on the raod? If you can find the right grass background it would look just as nice if not better. Or even find a parking lot with a few trees behind it. Just some thoughts. By the way, does the front plate have to go where it is at? Could it be moveed off to the side of the opening? Not my idea of good mods, but I will tip my hat to you and say that there is alot of time and love in your car. To many people buy a car and just drive it till the wheels fall off. Enjoy it, life is short, but you are dead so much longer!!

CRAZY HAWAIIAN

Why are you still pissed???

And furthermore, I don't think that there is a single person on this board who would not approach me to shoot the sh*t about my car if they saw it in a parking lot, if you wouldn't I would have to saw you are lying.

My car looks like everyone else's!!!!!

FIND ONE CAR ON THIS SITE THAT LOOKS ANYTHING LIKE IT AND I'LL BELIEVE YOU.

But you won't, you can't buy that hood, I made it, I have never seen that color on any other car, i don't need to go on.

PUTTING A HUGE WING ON THE REAR OF YOUR CAR OR PUTTING A ***** FRONT CLIP ON IT IS GOING TO ATTRACT ATTENTION, FROM THE RICE CROWD. most of us find it a little too extreme for getting attention, want to know the best way to set your car above the rest, pull into a parking lot and shake the ground and set off car alarms, then tell them you have a 305, or something, tasteful, like a custom hood etc.

A HUGE WIND WILL HAVE PEOPLE SAYING "WOW THATS A BIG WING" thats about it

Now for what this thread is really about:

IROC2NV - I really like the rest of your car, I don't really like the front clip.

I think that someone (maybe you) should attempt to make a Trans American SCCA style front clip. Anyone know what i'm talking about??? These are the ones that actually produce downforce on the front of the vehicle. It does this using a spoiler very similiar to that of the Mustang COBRA R. If anyone has the book CAMARO PERFORMANCE by David Shelby, there is a picture of one of these in the handling section of the book. If you can make on of these, I'll buy one personally.

Kinda like these:

I'm not pissed off brah. I was just trying to help you understand why everyone was mad before. Too many times we've had good threads locked because of immature stuff going on, and it just gets really really old. But hey now we're talking normal and stuff so it should be OK from here on out. Sorry for going off a little there, and sorry If I ofended you. How about this ... lets make a truce ... I'll go back and Edit remove everything I said ... you do the same ... and we can keep this thread going?

I really like the pictures of the Roadracing cars you posted. I also really like the pic of the GT corvette I posted. Those types of styles are the ones I really like. I dont like the ***** crowd and I dont want to look like them or have them attracted to my car (that just sounds downright nasty! haha), but I really do like the Roadracing / GT look ... slammed with aero kits all the way to the ground (for the best downforce with the least drag), bigger wheels with smaller sidewall tires for less flex under hard corners, and functional wings (the look I dont really care about).

And as far as your car, I think it looks great. Remember when I backed you up when people were dissing it? You're right, your car does not look like everyone elses car ... I was just trying to say that most people who mod the appearance of the Camaro think that wheels, a hood, and paint are the extent of mods possible .... and I know there is alot more possible. Sorry if it comes off as me bashing your car. I think your car looks cool as hell. I think you did a great job with the mods. But there are some other people here who want to take their car further than that ... they want to try new an original stuff ... and me being from the sport truck community where the envelope is pushed at every show ... I want to support that.

Thats where I'm comming from

That's exactly the type of front end I was looking at doing (with fiberglass) but man... it would get beat to hell on a street machine. I can't lower my car any more (the oil pan is four inches off the deck as it is) via springs or spindles, so the next best idea to make it look lower is lower ground effects. And if you're gonna make 'em lower, you may as well make 'em functional! So you throw a spoiler up front like that, cut a hole for air flow, sit an intercooler behind it for a turbo and stand back.

I'll be getting to it this autumn.

Maybe its southern hostpitality but down here in texas, Iget waved to all the time. In the entire city of fort worth, I've seen maybe 3 convertibles like mine. There are a bunch of f-body freaks down here in the DFW metroplex and we all ackowledge eachother. So many times, I've had 3rd gens honk and pull into a gas station parking lot and talk shop. Its a blast.

330 hp....saw those front spoilers you were referring to. I dont know how much they slope out, but they look kind of like the lower spoilers on the 91-92 camaros. what do u think?

Trans-Am / GT-1 Front spoilers

I too, have been toying with the idea of an IMSA/GT-1/Trans-Am style front clip. I think I know a way to counter the problem with deep front air dams scraping the ground. I saw an episode of Hemmings or HotRod TV or something, and they were looking at a Pro-Street style 4thGen that sat really low in the front. He had a small (1-1/2") wheel mounted to the under side of the nose, a couple of inches back from the trailing edge, so it would lift the nose a little, to keep from scraping. He had a one piece nose, and a tube frame, so he had it easy.
You could build one, Sort of like a wheelie bar, mounted to the radiator bulkhead. Here's a really crappy pic of how i think it'd look:

In the dual interests of appearance mods and post whoring, here's the T/A-GT1 idea I had:

I think you mean the top of the roof. That's the antenna. I happen to have a glass-mount shorty for my CB. It's mounted at the top edge of the glass. I think it looks sporty, so I drew it in.
I have a power antenna for the Stereo, so it doesn't show up in pics, unless the radio's on.

And here I thought the thread would have been dead by now....

This is the only nose I have found for a bird. Its made by OTP out of Germany. Their site is under construction, that and its in German, so I have no info. I emailed them and have not heard back yet.

Redraif: did you ever consider lowering your car? I think that may look cool. Just an inch or two, don't have to slam it. (or have you already? I was just looking at the little pic above and thinking it would look nice lower)

Actually now that I look back at your CarDomain site it looks like it's already been lowered.

Yepers! It should drop a bit more with the V-8, then we will tweak the rear springs to match.

Keep on keepin' on,
S.

Thanks for the backup...I was out of town all week, and couldn't get to my email!

crazy,

yes the front clip does use the existing bolt holes from the original clip..all it is is a take off put on type of thing...all i did (which scares me when i drive around) is take my front re-bar off because you can see the bumper through the front "bigmouth" hole and it looked like ***!! and with my rear custom bumper i did the same thing cuz once again..you could see the rebar and it looked like ***....

i hope that i can get a truck to tow her to the shows soon..i am really scared im gonna get nailed and have the motor in my lap..

Wow you would think the company you are modeling for could come up with a new bumper reinforcement for the cars. Thats a mess if it shows thru and you have to take it off. I know its not a great solution, but have you thought of getting the reinforcements off a yard car to see it there is a way to cut just teh part that shows. At least it would be something. I guess thats why the inport guys run with mesh. The mesh can somewhat mask the reinforcement if you paint it black so its not jumping out at you.
