Hey folks,

Traded my maroon IROC that is in the avatar pic for a black one. Same year, same driveline, just about the same everything except much better overall condition. The maroon one had been wrecked, front radiator support, inner fender rail/frame and front frame rail had been grafted and replaced and both rear quarters full of bondo. Body perfectly straight on this one I have now

However, the paint on this one isn't exactly perfect and I want to get rid of the stripes and mouldings on the doors so I'm going to paint it and add a '91-'92 Z28 wing. Not to mention, when they repainted it they didn't even have enough brains to get the IROC-Z decals on the right place on the door (back of door for '88-'90)!!So I'm asking you all to help me choose a color!!

Here's the choices:

Black (just the basic black like it is now)
Black with blue pearl in the clear
Black metallic
Black metallic with blue pearl
Black with purple pearl
Black metallic with purple pearl

Lemme know what you all think I should do!!

 

Damn, thats a hard choice! I think black with blue pearl would look cool, but any of those sound awesome. As long as its black, it'll look sweet

 

I'd go for black metallic with a bunch of clearcoat, but any of those would look good.

 

Metallic Black with two silver heritage racing stripes, get hood blisters, and add the wing. While you're at it, you can buy the 91-92 FRONT GROUND EFFECT only to give your car a better look. No need for the sides, front looks just fine and it's only about $200US for a brand new one. My 3 cents... :P

 

i personaly like black with gold/orange pearl

Basic Black (like it is now)
Black with blue pearl
Black metallic with blue pearl

Bright Red.

Really though dude, your car looks great just like that and you should keep it that way IMO.

 

I think I'd go for black with blue pearl.


I have a friend whose car has got black paint with gold flakes in it that I think is pretty nice.

 

Just a heads up dood.. I had a Black Firebird with pearl in it, and it looked like it was always dusty. I'll never put pearl in a black car again..

 

MR. Jordan is soo correct. Pearl on black no matter what color will make it look kind of dirty, i would say just straight black. but im pretty conservative sometimes on paint. if you do do a metallic make sure you use silver or somthing close the gold metallic will make it look like crap and dusty as will the silver but it will look better with chrome or silver wheels...
have fun either way and you get what you pay for.

 

I would have to say straight black with a good clear coat! only if its done very well, " absoulutely straight" & NO orange peel.
Man I luv black cars but they have to be perfect! & in 2pak or they scratch to easy.

I think I have made a decision, but don't know for sure yet. I think I'm going to go with regular basic black with lots of clear so it's deep and shiny and put the heritage silver racing stripes on it. Keep the opinions coming though because I'm still not 100% sure yet. Thanks for all the replies so far.

 

anybody have a pic of a car with Black metallic with blue pearl paint?

 

I'm going with a pearl black on my car one of these days with charcoal stripes or some other dark silverish color. Next thing I'm doing though, new aluminum rad after the transmission gets back from the shop

 

GO black, it looks tough.. i just got my new black 86 z28 i love it!!!

 

go black with the midnight blue iroc stripe kit.....there is a guy on here who has that on a 90 roc with 91-92 style wheels....his name slipped my mind but ive told him i like his ride....its sweet
