How much time do you spend just on the appearance of your car?

I used to spend an hour each day planning on what I could do to my car. Now I dry it occassionally and spend no time on it. How many hours a day, week, month, year do you slave on your car?

Right now it's going on three full weeks worth of time towards the appearance. It's still in the paint shop. I'm getting very tired of waiting

I by far spend more time cleaning my car then driving it. I'd say it would work out to

60% Cleaning
30% repairs/upgrades
10% driving it.

Heck I've put under 1000 miles on it in 3 years.

Mines black. If I wanna take it anywhere to show it off, I have to wash it (Or wipe it down). I can wash it at night, and the next day it will have dust and crap on it. And I cannot use the California duster in the sun, so I gotta wash it. But if I dont have to take it anywhere during the day (Like a car show...etc), the duster is GREAT to use when the sun goes down.

Eh, so what Im tryin to say is a put alot of time into appearance...

It contains a wax, which helps pick up dust. If you use it when its sunny, the sun is hitting your paint and making it hot. So when you whipe, the wax melts off the duster and on to your paint. I tried it in the sun, and man, there was tons wax streaks all over my paint. What a mess

car sat at the dealership for a month outside while i was waiting for the new engine. and the hood and back hatch went to $hit...since i didn't wax it for about a month before that. the original paint is still in good condition and it should last me a few more years, but you have to take good care of it. I have been waxing the hood and hatch every other day trying to get the color back in, so far it is working. i have the next week off so starting on mon i am going to do the megwier 123 thing about 2 times over the week over the whole car.
car is a daily driver (1 mile to work) so i do wash it at least once a week (usually on fri afternoon right before going out.)
I want to get into the habit of wax every other week.
and wash once or twice.
I wash the bike once a week, usually sat morning right before i go riding with the buds.

eh, mines nothing special so it doesn't get a whole lot of attention. Usually takes about an hour or so to wash it, last time I waxed it was last year lol. After a new paint job I'll take better care. Sat for 3 months waiting for the transmission, drove it 2 weeks before the transmission took a dump again, now it's been close to a month sitting again! grr. Wish the tranny shop was quicker.

daily driver!!
once a week i just wash with car wash shop and let the sun dry it, takes about 30 to 40 minutes. then i windex all the windows in and out.
once a week i vaccum the inside, tighten down any loose screws, and use some plastic/vinly cleanner.

engine bay i dont pay much attention too, because i am not sure if i like the idea of spraying everything with water..

My cars have always been very clean, if I had my way they'd be washed at least every other day in the summer. But for the past 2 months or so it has rained in less than two hours after washing EVERYTIME!!! We're talking clear skies with 0% chance of showers, but as soon as the car's wiped down and the windows cleaned, big 'ol storm clouds come rollin' in. Very frustrating.

sometimes when i don't have anytime and i want to wash my car, i do the car wash thing and then get on the hwy and let 80 mph winds dry the car, that is one way of doing it.

Heck I'm always doing something to the car. Everyday there is some project. The fact that it is my Daily driver makes it harder. Over the summer I was going to a show about every week, so it got washed and waxed and vacuumed and detailed. Engine compartment is always the hardest. You get all that road dust. It all has to be wiped down and cleaned before each show. Friday nights are always crazy.

Then there is all the ongoing mods. Usually something being worked on. In fact even though the car is at teh painters, I have the door panels and taillights. I'm working on cleaning them up. the door panels are getting black naugasoft added to them in place of the old grey fabric. I'm painting the amber on my tailights transparent red and trying to make the turn signals go across the whole bottom instead on just that one small rectangle.

So basically I never stop. Heck I have even been dreaming about it lately. Getting it all done before Dayton, OH. Seems I always have a new mod before each show.

Wash on Mon & Fri. Wax at least 1 month. Buff twice a month. Interior as need which is usually 1 to 2 timesa month. But my car is Black so dirt and dust is immediately on the car as soon as I take that first drive after washing. Apperance is a never ending battle.

Re: How much time do you spend just on the appearance of your car?

this past time I cleaned her up for pictures and cruising it took 7 hours....but if I'm doing a 'quick' clean it takes a couple hours

using a mothers 'powerball' has saved alot of time on the wheels though
