clear coat this!

just wondering...since i know diddley squat about auto paint and stuff. how many layers of clear coat are recomended? and is more better? what is the added effect of using 2 layers as to using 5?

the more coats you add the deeper the color and shine. it will also protect better aswell

I doen't think maco would use a clear coat. Takes to long to paint. I would go with about 5-7 coats, if you could. It would be better for the car. And you would have more to work with as far as buffing goes. You should use 2-3 coats of the base coat.

BZZT, WRONG ANSWER. Maaco uses clear coat(at least here it does). If you wanna go cheap, it's mixed into the paint, if not, they do it seperately.
