front lower spolier repainting
make sure I'm going about this correctly; front spolier has lots of chips in it, lower portion is scuffed to plastic in some areas.
So, I'm thinking about:
1. sanding with 1000 grit to scuff the paint and smooth it out,
2. taping and spraying a couple layers of primer
3. resanding with 1500 grit
4. taping and spray with the paint (# coats?)
5. then clear coat.
Is there anything wrong with this order/ process?

i would used 600 grit sandpaper to knock off all the chips/scratches. then tape it. when your ready to prime, just prime the spots that are down to the plastic. take all the tape off and resand the primed surfaces with 600. then sand the rest with 1000, so paint has something to stick to. just make sure that you fan the primer line out so its nice and smooth. then your ready for paint and clear. hope this helps.

Thanks for your help...
You say sand it down then prime just the areas worn down to plastic. Its ok if some primer gets on the areas that are not worn down to plastic?
I'm sure i will all be smoothed out again after resanding.

you have to sand all the chips smooth first with 600. make sure that you fan them out so you don't see the chips when you paint it. if you get primer on the painted area, who cares, your going to sand that with 1000. that will take the primer off.
