I have more pics, but I dont want to hog too much bandwidth...

Me and my dad did all the hard work and took everything off that we could, and then we took it to macco... It turned out great, because we didnt leave anything on the car that they could get overspray on and mess up. They didnt do any body work either, so hopefully this will last. When you go to macco, just make sure that you pay more for a good paint, and do all the work yourself...

When you say pay more for good paint, how much more? What should I specify if I take it in?

make sure you do some research on the macco you plan on going to. they're independently owned and quality can vary from place to place. try to get ahold of their previous customers and see what they think, especially those that have had their paint for more than a year

They have different grades of paint... They will try and sell you on the $200 cheap deal, but dont be fooled. Go in looking for one of their higher level services that cost a little more (something with a clear coat or an integrated clear coat). Also, all they do is mask off stuff to try and avoid getting paint on certain things (lights, windows, etc...), so if you can, take out all the lights and anything you dont want paint on and leave it at home. When you go to macco, dont expect to just drop off your car and pick it up in a week all done and ready to drive. You have to do some work by yourself in order to get a quality job out of them (take out lights, etc.)... Basicly, when you take it in, it sould almost be ready to spray. If you dont take some time and do some things at home, they will do a crappy job... I even went as far as to take off the bumper and GFX and have them paint them seperatly. I hope all this makes sense... but if you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

I was wondering about the spoiler and such. It makes sense to me to remove it. How 'bout the mirrors? Do you have to trailer the car to the shop after you get done, or can you do some disassembly there?

I took everything off including mirrors, spoiler, etc and drove it to the shop... probably not legal, but the shop was only a few streets away. I dont recomend disassembling it there, because it takes some time, and at home you have all your tools. If you have to go any distance to the shop, then trailering the car might be a good idea. :lala:

about $1000... My dad paid for it, so I didnt really care Only problem is that he says that he is done spending money on my car and anything else I do is coming out of my pocket I'm sure you can get just as good of a job for less at macco, but know what your talking about when you go looking.

Oh, the dealer quoted $3000

edit: I had the door jambs, trunk jamb, hood jamb, and any other jambs on the car painted also.

The paint on my car was about 1,700 dollars, but let me tell you it looks like a 6K job. I went to a local shop. Should get pics of my car soon, and I'll post them somewhere!!!!
