Chrysler overhead console installed

Tonite I installed a Concorde overhead console and a Tahoe compass/temp mirror. Here's a couple of pics I snapped in the dark. The install was easy and straighforward and I think my interior looks much better now. I'm an "electronic gadget" freak.... lol

p.s. I will get a better picture tomorrow in daylight

The console I got off ebay for a mere 40 bucks. There's still 5 or 6 of them on ebay right now. This is a big chrysler vehicle console.. like concorde, interpid, cherokee, jeep... etc etc

You pretty much give it power. It's got two other wires for the odometer and gas mileage info... but who needs that ? In my car it'll probably say 1 mpg anyway, then I'll be even more pissed when it's staring in my face all day. Pretty soon it'll start flashing "S U C K A !!" .... LMAO

Self tapping screw. It will attach to the bracing that's under the headliner.

I dont think a tech article is really necessary. It's three basic steps. You cut a big square in the headliner. Join the wiring of the old console with the new console. Drill two small holes in the console by the buttons and put in self tapping screws. Keep turning the screws (preferably with a power tool) until they start screwing into the bracing behind the headliner. Done !

Do you have to run some kind of temp sensor to the outside of the car for the digital thermometer or is there one built into the mirror that reads the temp inside the car?

Damn.... this is an old post. Yes the mirror is from a Tahoe. It does have a lead that I'm supposed to hook up to a sensor, but I don't have that sensor... so it's been on my "to do" list. I did play with the mirror by trying different size resistors on the lead and ground and the temperature changed around, so I'm guessing something like a coolant or IAT sensor would work.

So if I understand this correctly, the compass is a self contained unit within the mirror, while the temp display requires an external sensor? I'm not really concerned with the temp display or MPG indicator, but it would be helpful to have a compass feature.

thanks
