ALthough you almost re-iterated what I said 87WS6....It was Universal and not MGM...They used several cars on the show depending on what shot was used...they used a car that had full working electronics used for close-ups of the dash and they had one that was used for stunt work that just had a dash with no elecs and a round steering wheel. As for them swapping out the 305-350 I believe the car they used for show that had a flawless paintjob and working dash that just kind of put putted around still had the 305 CFI. There were some cars that weren't even Trasn Ams at all...there is one episode where you can clerarly see that it is some sort of sand buggy or something with a tube frame just with the shell of a trans am....then there are times they just used models. No I didn't build that car KDoggsPimpJetta but I know enough about Knight Rider it to know what I'm talking about

 

At least they didn't use the 'Dukes of Hazzard' method of just hurling a car into the air and filming it...they used models for tough stuff...and saved many TA's.

i think any Knight rider flick would be horrible, unless it had top notch effects, and a real plot. I keep thinking about the horrendous Dukes reuinion, or the 90's Speed Racer cartoon.
They should just leave the good old corny stuff alone, and stop trying to re-make it. Continue the original plot line, without re-treading on it...
Howabout a Knight Rider 2101? Where they find KITT's cpu, and put it into the super tech Bladerunner style hovercar of that time...
Again...with top notch effects...and good sci-fi writers. Maybe Hasslehoff could play a character related to Michael Knight...
KR worked in the 80's, when nothing like it had been seen before..except maybe James Bond...they need somehing new...

You are right. It was Universal not MGM. The car that I have the backstory for is a driving scene car. But the electronics do work. But only when the car is stopped. The electronics had to be plugged in to a 120v wall socket. This car does have a 350 in it and a racing fuel cell. It's story is on one of the knight rider conversion sites. http://www.markscustomkits.com. What I know comes from what I have read. This car listed on that sight is not been confirmed as a real car from the show. According to Pontiac and Universal (not MGM your right.) All the original cars were destroyed per Universals agreement with Pontiac/GM. However there is fairly compelling evidence that the car I am talking about is real. Like the Universal studios keychain that has backlot numbers and what not. In fact in the season 3 episode Knights in the Fast Lane Michael shuts KITT down and hands this dude the keys to KITT. And the keys that are seen do look like the keys on the site that were with the car in question. They are to small on screen however to read the keychain. In addition to the keys the car I am talking about also had a metal license plate showing rust from extreme age. Also the dash and special effects stuff found in the car seem to suggest it is genuine.

I also have most of the Knight Rider Episodes on my PC so I can answer most KR questions pretty easily. I also have the Pilot Episode "Knight of the Phoenix" on tape. As well as KR 2000. I have seen the horror of KR2010. Never will I go through that again. Team Knight Rider is like the Power Rangers meets KR. Horrid at best.

Dodge or not, the Viper is cool. I loved the Defender mode. That was a cool looking car. That whole gang of black stealths in the begining....James McCaffrey was Payton, the driver in the orginal. He was orginaly a bad guy, the leader of this gang of stealths. There was some way they erased his mind and convinced him he was good and worked for the Viper team. NBC cancelled it and UPN brought it back with a new driver. Cole: Jeff Kaake. I met Jeff and Heather Medway at some event at Target for MADD. They were both on UPN's Viper. Got them to sign a Viper model.
Later Jeff Kaake left and James McCaffrey returned.

Why do you think I got a Firebird. KITT is what made me fall in love with these cars. KITT is also where teh bug to start modding came from. As a kid I wanted my own KITT. My own version. I just got a Matchbox KITT and a model made by Corgi, I think. Then I got one of the models you have to build. Got to love Ebay!

Firechick. What quality are your episodes in? Or are they VHS? Mine are all in a Windows Media Format. I only have one real good quality episode. (But one of the best to have.) KITT Vs. KARR is high quality but I have never found any of the other ones in high quality.

I have Knight of the Phoenix on VHS. I could do that one in high quality but that would be about the end of it. Columbia House has every episode on tape. I tried getting the series but they wouldn't send them to me.

 

all good quality, original NBC airings except for a few.They are VHS.
