anyone with a 4th gen rear have pics??
I guess it is an appearance question: Wondering if the way they make the stock 3rd gen wheels stick out obviously too much, or if possible to use a pair of 3rd gen rims labeled "front" in the rear to make up for backspacing.
Any pics would be great

Yep I'm feeling much better now.
Anyway to answer your question. By installing a 4th gen rear end it pushes the wheels and tires about approx. 1 - 2 inches on both sides. If you put the front wheels on the rear it will cause your wheels to stick out even further(hence the reason why rears don't work on the front, but fronts work on the rear).
Hope that answers your questions.

I have a 4th gen rear in my car, I have pics somewhere, the stock rims look ok, kicked out a bit. The only problem is that the passenger side tire hits inside the wheel well. Not bad though. So there is some rubbing. Not sure about front rims on rear. I will look for the pics tonight and try to scan them tomorrow.

You rule!! Thanks alot. That is not as exaggerated as everyone made it out to be. It looks fine to me. Is the tire rubbing on the fender itself, or the wheelwell? If it is the wheel well, ever thought about just shaving some of the plastic?
Another thing. See you've got a converitble also. Have you replaced your top lately? I've been looking all over the internet and have found some pretty good deals, but was wondering if you had any suggestions.

The rubbing is mainly on the inner lip, I am looking into buying that tool where you can roll the inside of the lip so it won't cut into the tires when I put my SS rims on there (when I buy them).
As far as the top goes, I have looked into it a little, my top itself is fine, it's just the "vinyl" trim around the edges is coming off. I am going to see how hard it would be just to fix that, my brother has a commercial sewing machine for doing apulstry (sp??) work with so we are going to try. My window is fine too!! But if that doesn't work I will look into it again.
e-mail Mrmgtr@aol.com, he e-mailed me a while back about top pricing. His number is (972) 412 9400... he sells tops in vinyl and stayfast. Hope this helps!

thanks for the tip. I have a st of 16in 4th gen TA rims. But I really dig my 3rd gen rims (look like yours). Oh well. I'll play it by ear. Thanks for the tip on the top guy. I'll give it a shot.
Thanks again.
Do you still need to adjust the lip with SS rims? Maybe because they are 17in.. Who knows.

25 min?? damn you must have been haulin ***!! i originaly was gonna drop the whole rear end and put them in from the top...but after a hour and 4 broken sockets...i desided to just squeeze them through the springs. took me little under a hour by my self to do..but i also routed the lines very poorly and one ended up catching my exhaust and melting
..ohh well, its all fixed now! very very very recommended to do on any car IMO. it jsut doesnt give you extra height if you want it, you can also preload the right side for better traction off the line!! Thread
