This will probably be locked. But I thought I would share this anyway. This is a cool car!!!

Someone modded their trans am after the styling cues of a 71 Trans Am. Even has a shaker hood!

I think this is one of the coolest modifications Ive ever seen.

I wonder if they anyone considered making a 4th gen with 3rdgen styling cues. I know a ton of us here or doing the 3rd with 4th parts.

What are your thoughts on this? Any ideas as to what a 4th with 3rd might look like.

Later,
bill

That shaker is not functional - other than it shakes. Still has the regular LS1 airbox.

I'm kinda mixed on the look of the car. It certainly is clean, and all the mods were done well...but overall...I dunno.

It looks real nice but i find the rear wing to be
too high.. Either way.. nicer than the original.

I thought I saw that on motortrend or hotrod tv. Thought it was at the Woodward Dream Cruise with a Camaro that was shoving out some extreme horses. I like the retro look, thought the nose was a bit much..but overall a very nice looking ride.

Well, yeah. Being Fuel Injected its kinda hard to have a real shaker hood. ^_^ Bud dang! thats a whole lotta down force on the rear end! I think that wing is more effective than half the wings you'll find on some race cars! Very much in the NASCAR style of spoilers.

My bad on the shaker part. I guess it being fuel injected makes it a dumby.

Anyowho. I love the looks of it. From the nose to the rear spoiler its got SWEEEEET written all over it.

As far as rear shots go...I couldn't find any.

I saw a pewter T/A with the same front end but it had an entire body kit on it. I can't remember what mag it was from but they showed the 302 z28 and a few other one-off proj cars. I need to start going to the T/A nats again whenever I get a Firebird. Just couldnt afford one when i was 16.

As much as I talk about custom body work and how there should be more Fbodies with custom body work, I would be a hipocrite If I said I did not like it. A 2ndgen theme would not have been my first choice, but I do like it for its customness. I like the spoiler in the back. I would like to have an RS 3 piece spoiler on my Firebird like the ones on the TA convertibles.

Yes that car is from chevrolet. Chevrolet decided to let their engineers and designers go wild and produce anything they wanted. I believe that car was a replica of a race car from that era(i forget who it was) It is real sweet!!!

I'm sure the SD refers to the 2nd gen moniker, not the actual 4th gen 421 SD which is out there.

As for the shaker...I do see the original airbox, but why can't FI motors have a shaker? Isn't TBI considered fuel Injection? Whack a hole in the hood, put a pretty box and a filter around the TB, and it's a shaker. It's a shaker, cuz it shakes...it has nothing to do with ram air or anything like that.

Sick tought
What if instead of drop th Fbodies GM would decide a crazy idea
The revival of the 2nd or 3rd Generation cars ...the same look (with minor mods) and all the technology of this era
Im 100% sure the sales will increase 100%
ive also heard that you can order a 2nd gen if you want but are so much expensive (i think this is false)
Imagine a whole new 1977 Trans am but 2003 ???
Post your thoughts on this cool crazy idea ¡¡¡

That thing is kick A**. They should make the 1st/2nd/3rd gen cars over with modern powertrains/amenities for small production runs no longer than 2 years or so. So they're not too overpriced, but also so they aren't too common, and sitting in every dumpy car lot across town after they're 10 years old.

Also, that white 3rd gen is the one with the LT-5, ZR1 engine.
It's my wallpaper background!!

The engines in those suckers are 7liters straight from the race track. I forgot everything about the cars other than that, I too saw it on some tv hot roding event. They'll knock you flat.

Why keep the original airbox if he isn't using it?

Suncoast Creations had a short run of functional shaker hood scoops for 4th gens. They were expensive, so I don't think they caught on. What they did is take air in by the windshield, route it around in a 'corkscrew' tube into the front of the intake (similar to the 4th gen Camaro SS routing. THAT's how it's supposed to be.

So shaker hoods and fuel injected cars be made to work together.

HTH...
