Help - Painting Rims
What is anyone painting their stock rims with?
I have stock 15" Z wheels, had them bead blasted and the factory red paint/clearcoat stripped. I tried to paint them last week ... I was told by another local guy that did it to just use Rustoleum cans - he used it and his looked really good!
I got bright metallic silver. I noticed that it sprayed really thick, way thicker than any other colored paint I'd sprayed in the past. After 1 week (7 days), it still doesn't seem 'dry'. It is dry (doesn't rub off on your finger when touched), but seems so thick and kinda gooey (a technical term). If you press your nail ever-so-slighty, it dents. And if you scratch your nail on it ever-so-slightly, it lifts off and a gooey gunk of paint is under your nail.
I've never seen paint do this before, and I am at a loss. The local guy I talked to is gone (I never got a name from him). What is everyone painting their rims with to get a shiny silver or chrome look?

i used that dupli-color stuff they sell at wally world and most auto stores. if you only sprayed one coat of paint on and made it thick that might be your gooey paint problem. i think u should just strip them again and re paint them. when u paint do it in thin light coats at first then gradually, over like 5 coats, get thicker making shure every coat is dry befor you do the next one. good luck.
