primering 101

hey guys i need help i'm about ready to primer my car. could someone give me the steps. so i make sure i do it right. thanks

Engine: 4.3 v-6
Transmission: an automatic one! haha
sand,sand, and sand some more. I started with 80 grit then i went to 160 grit then 280 then 320 then i cleaned it with laquer thinner and primered it, then i wetsanded it with 400 then i cleaned it again with laquer. If you see any imperfections fix them after you primer it because the primer will make them really stand out. and then you can paint but just make sure it is CLEAN!!!
