Like someone mentioned, there was a Super Chevy Magazine with an orange 1st gen doing a purple burnout and it WAS used with Kool-aide. The reason it isnt working for some of you is that you are mixing it, then putting it on the ground. The bleach eats up the acids creating the color in kool-aid, kinda like putting one of those sugar sticks in soda. Or pop-rocks in soda. If you put the bleach on the ground, then the dry kool-aid next to it, and do a burnout while slowly moving OVER the bleach first, then onto the kool-aid. It will work. The bleach creates the massive smoke cloud, and the heat over the kool-aid completes the chemical change. This is how it was done for a chemistry project i did back in high-school. I will take a pic of it tomarrow and post it. I live in southern california, so i dont have snow and BS to worry about. Just a nice bright sun! ha ha. Ill try and get a video of it as well.

Wow, this sounds really interesting... I'm glad I stumbled onto this thread.

I'm going to try this asap, but I have a crappy lil digital camera so I hope the pics will come out. Also, I don't have my own computer but I'll be back late Sunday night with my results.

I've never done any of this stuff before but I'm sure I'll have fun experimenting. I'll get some blue kool aid this weekend, but I found some jello powder for tomorrow. (Think this'll work?) Purple was the darkest color I found. It has sugar... does that matter? Or, does it NEED to be kool aid?

Can you guys post some tips for bleach or oil burnouts? I've never seen this before and I wanna try it. And, should I have high or low tire pressure for good burnouts? (Like I said... I don't do or see this much.)

What do you guys mean by "powerbrake"? Is it something you can only do with a manual transmission?

I think he means doing a burn out ( you know while holding the brake on and pushing the gas)

u fools. u cant do a power break on a manual. otherwise u would stall the engine. if u own a manual like me u pop the clutch or if u have enuff power u let it roll and then mash the gas.

Dont call me a fool, i did it tonight, just takes some practice. you just have to be fast off the clutch to the brake. I even got it into second before quitting. Try turning your foot sideways so you can push the clutch and the brake, then rap up to bout 4 grand and slip your foot off the clutch while staying on the brake. Simple (kinda) as that.

I was planning to do the kool aid burnout this weekend but my car was giving me a little trouble. (After I managed to try my grape jello burnout.)

I poured some bleach over my tire (damn I wish I had posi...) and put jello powder in front of the tire. Torque-loaded it and let the tire slip over the powder and I did get a little purple smoke (and a hell of a lotta white smoke) but I rolled a little too far and missed most of it so I probably could have gotten more color if I did it right. The powder had sugar in it too so I got a cotton candy smell along with the burnt rubber. It also left a semi sticky purplish rubber tire mark on my driveway... which is actually pretty cool looking after I hosed off the jello. I didn't bother to take pics of this as I was just testing.

I'm going to try to borrow my dad's digital cam and I think it's supposed to be able to record a few seconds of video so I'll do the kool aid burnout tomorrow and be back with pics and hopefully a video next chance I can get to a computer. (Hopefully, monday night, but might be tues or thurs.)

Any tips to do this better? Am I doing anything wrong?

wow if i'm a fool you must be a total retard
My method is a little more simple than disturbthepeace's method. i just rev it to around 4 grand maybe 4500, then dump the clutch hella fast and go straight to the brake all with my left foot. Easier that way, but you might jump forward a little if you grab traction off the bat.

i got you all on the powerbraking a 5-speed

put right foot on gas and on the brake
rev to 2500 and apply some pressure on the brake
let out the clutch
apply brake pressure until your stopped (if not enough to start with)

and yes it works great, went untill my tire heated up so much it bogged out the motor from sticking

ill have to tryto find somewhere to host my vid to show you guys

you called everyone an idiot cause "you can't powerbrake a 5 speed".............that my friend makes you a retard.....dumping the clutch and hitting the brake IS powerbraking it's one of several methods. all you said was pop the clutch, you can't hold a burnout like that.

Sometimes you want a dry burnout though. And you want to stay still. And even with a lot of power and crappy tires you'll eventually usually move.

I was jacking up the car once, so I put a wheel stop to stop it from rolling. After I was done I left in front of the wheel, and put the car in drive. It wouldn't move at first so I checked the parking brake and it was off. I gave it a little more gas and the front of the car started to go up. I was like s***. This was on a gravel driveway, not sure how well they work on asphalt.

Wow, thats odd. I JUST got home from work, well......ya work. And I JUST read this new post.......Funny thing is, I just got in an accident. Some lady in a Blazer she was test-driving did a U-ey right in front of me in the middle of the road from the lane on my right hand side (? dont even ask why ?), I smacked right into the side of her in the back. I know that my story doesnt concern a burnout, just thought it was odd that it was the very first thing I read about and see that movie right when I get home from filling out a report of my accident.....

Hmmmmm......

Oh ya, luckily it wasnt my baby, if any of you were concerned. It was just my winter beater, THANK THE ALMIGHT for that one. I think I woulda busted down and started crying if it would have been.......

Finally I did this... I didn't see any color in the smoke. VERY disappointing....

Poured bleach over tire... kool aid in front... torque-loaded and let my tire slip on top of the kool aid. I saw nothing different... neither did my friend. (Who can't take pictures for crap!) By the way, I used about 1/3 of the canister of kool aid.

Two notes:
One, is that there was sugar already in the kool aid, that is all I could find within a 15 minute drive from my house. (I remember reading to use a suger-free powder.) Don't know if that makes a difference.
Two, I didn't use as much bleach as I normally do, but it was a small water bottle full of it (16 or 20 oz? around there) so I think it should have been enough. Less smoke than normal though.

I think the jello burnout worked better. I'll probably try that one again... but with my friend's car instead. Anyway, here's the only pic of the burnout my friend managed to snap. See if you can see any red in the smoke... I can't.
