My #1 complaint... The driver's seat does not slide back far enough! I'm only 6 foot nothing and I wish I had just one JUST ONE more click back. It would make all the difference in the world.

#2 complaint - Cam specs, you know what I mean.

#3 - stock exhaust y pipe

#4 - insurance seat (they shoulda made a 2 seater version F-body) but then I guess it wouldn't be an f-body would it...

#5 - heavy glass hatch + crappy hatch struts = big bumps on the back of my head

Wow, thats a new one. Mine seem to be perfect, except for the cruise control/winder wiper/turn which is almost faded into oblivion.

I thought the stock brakes were bad on a V6 models, but I can't imagine how bad they are for you V8 guys.

I have had hateful feelings towards almost everything listed, but I could never hate my car. I have tried too. When something starts bugging me I fix it, or try to. Rollbar took car of all the squeaks and rattles, EXCEPT for the damn rear hatch. Squeaks all the time going down the road. And the windows are loose in the doors, rattle when they are down. There are leaks around the windows where they meet the t-top. Never been able to fix that. Too slow in stock trim, but they look so cool.

And I hate people who don't know anything about our cars and criticize them. Stupid mustang guys who see an RS and think it must be a V6....

1. Lousy brakes
2. Lousy steering (Jeeps in the '60s had the same setup )
3. Lack of engine power (my stock fourthgen feels like a big block after driving the wimpy 305)
4. Tacky overall build quality, especially the interior.
5. T-top leaks and rattles
6. The damn dash doesn't have any steel supports inside. No wonder it rattles so much.
7. Heavy doors that rattle too much with the windows down. I hate that clanging sound.
8. Too nose heavy. The hood and fenders should have been some kind of composite material.
9. Floorpan too thin, flimsy and prone to rust.
10. Too much body flex.
11. Clutch and gear throws too long.
12. Lack of sound deadening. Makes a world of difference.

Granted some things could have been made a little better but most of us can't really complain about our cars.90% of us are not the original owner of our cars and well, after all they are 10-20 years old.

Basically I love my car. When something stops working I replace or fix it as best and as quick as I can. But there is always something.

1. I hate those clips that keep braking behind the BIG plastic screws in the back, like where the spare tire is.
2. the one major rattle that seems to be coming from the spare tire area.
3. almost everytime I open my hatch the wire connected to the defrost comes out making my 3rd brake lite stop working. PITA
4. those star screws that I never have the screwdriver for when I need it.
5.My brakes are slow to react or either I drive too fast. Wish I had 4 disc brakes.
6.The rattles coming from my doors.
7. The scratches my window has put in my tint.
8. The rear power hatch that keeps going out every six months.
9. the placement of the rear speakers in the sail panel so that they face each other instead of having the sound come towards the front.
10. the license plate holder that has the busted spring so it does not flip back up. Thank *** for bungee cords.
11. Everytime I bottom out which is scraping my rear wheels altho I have new struts, shocks, springs, evrything1
12. Everytime I see another thirdgen looking like s*!&
13. My front dash speakers
14 The difficulty in getting to my fuse box.
15. and of course everyones favorite - NO CUPHOLDER, why Chevy, please tell us why there were no cup holders.

thing I use to hate that I fixd because I couldn't stand it any more.
1. the headliner
2. the leaks from the T Tops
3. the rear hatch motor
4. the blower motor
5. the radiator and the thermo
6. the weak performing and sounding exhaust system
7. The Van Nuys paint
8. the factory alloy wheels
9. the lack of factory tint
10. the lack of factory power locks and windows

Other than all of that I love my thirdgen.

Thirdgens came with a tint from the factory, it was called softray. Mine is green. It is so light that you can barely see it, which is why most people need a darker tint.

86NiteRider,

I wouldn't count number 12 on your list since it is not

your thirdgen. I kind of take issue with that because my car looks kind of shabby, but I am doing the best I can with the limited funds that I have. Not all of us live in gold palaces.

Yea, mine looks like white trash right now, courtesy of some ******* who plowed into it in the parking lot (and drove away, of course) last night while I was working. Passenger side taillight shattered, quarter panel destroyed, chipped wing, bumper may be salvageable - but prolly not . Calling insurance tomorrow, see what happens - maybe I can get the new wing I've been wanting, and some new paint, courtesy of State Farm...

i also hate the comment on how our cars are known as "white trash cars" i also hate the p.o.s headliner that seems to flap in ur face when ur tryin to look at a hot girl or another 3rdgen. and ditto on the sides of the center console separate. also could it of killed gm to put a lousy cup holder somewhere? i'm so paranoid about spillin something while i'm tryin to drive. and the thing i hate the most is the way my car hesitates only when i'm tryin to pull into traffic or racin some ***** at a traffic light...

I really dont know where to start. I try not to think about all the faults of my Camaro because then I would wish I never bought one, but anyways heres a list....

1. crappy steering, way too much play
2. crappy brakes, I have factory 84 disc brakes that are junk w/no peddal
3. headliner is junk, Ive fixed mine 3 times now and it still comes down
4. RUST, I live in Canada and my car will never stop rusting
5. doors are too damn heavy
6. T-Tops leak like a bastard
7. exhaust, only one pipe, even mustang had true duals
8. length, car is way too long, I could rename it a Buick Roadmaster
9. cheap stamped steel, this includes LCA's panhard bar etc.
10. with too much power comes car twisting, mine is cracking at the roof line
11. i cant get the hood to line up
12. wipers suck, too slow and my moter is new and the sprayer sucks
13. when I got my car it was PINK w/flamingoes and a sunseeker sticker
14. I put my arm through 3 glove box doors, cheap vynle construction
15. T-5 sucks, long sloppy shifts, cluch is soft, can only handle so much power
16. differential is weak, blown 1 up already, I saved the spider gears, my weak 350 did the damage through a weak turbo 200 metric junk
17. hump for catilitic converter, all passangers conplain about it
18. lack of door speakers, dash speakers suck
19. dash wants to crack any chace it gets
20. more creeks than an old house, exhaust noise makes up for it.
21. inside door handles break cheap white metal
22. top plastic peice on door panels warps and breaks
23. plasic in trunk faded and scrached looking
24. rear seating, why its not like anyone can fit back there
25. crappy speedo, 85 mph, I gop faster than that in my Ford Tempo
26. my V6 firechicken w/2.8 is slower than frozen mud
27. not enough interior lighting
28. blind spots, cause of 1 accident
29. Berlinettas have digital dash that is crap, I know I had one, all digi stuff is expensive, ask GM lol
30. T-Tops leaking, oh wait I already mentioned that, I only mentioned it again cause it really bother me and new rubbers are over my budget
31. slow @SS power windows
32. power window switches always die
33. power window connection to the motor always comes appart, requires punching the door
34. power door locks are junk and dont werk
35. ground effects that dont line up with teh door ground effects
36. Y did Gm put the rear speakers to be positioned right into peoples ears sitting in the back
37. what with the trunk? need I say more or should I say lack there of
38. why did Gm install that plastic cover above the pedals so close to the pedals, I go to hit the brake and my foot gets stuck on the plastic cover
39. cigarette lighter is up to high on the dash, it should be in the ash tray, I want to plug in my cell phone but cant cause the power wire hages all over the place
40. whats with the bolt sizes metric standard, couldnt they just go one way, it would have made my life easier

thats 40 things I dislike about my car. and Im spent
other than these things I like the car, I just wish I could have bought mine new from the factory, or maybe have been on the design team.

Man, your dead on with one of the issues I forgot to mention. On my AC bracket, 2 of the bolts are metric and the other is SAE and would you believe that two metric bolts are different sizes.

I also hate the screws under the dash. I just replaced them with bolts. Almost all of my screws are replaced with bolts. I can remove a tough or rusty bolt more easily than a screw which always seems to get stripped.

Everyone forgot to mention this one:

The seat belt holders always falls off because it is only secured by foam and fabric. I had to put a #10 size screw on the passenger side so the thing would not fall off.

hmmm so far ive only noticed 1 person (my brother) that has mention RUST on these cars and how easily they rust compared to a early to late 60's and early 70's muscule cars and how those cars still have factory body panels and our cars well most have either patches welded or glassed or a ton if needed of bondo filler. thats the worst thing i hate about our cars and beside the unibody but thats easily fixed with SFC

I have some rust on my car. Sometimes it shows up in places where you would not suspect.

Rear hatch light did not work

Windshield washer fluid did not work

I have fixed those two things so that is 2 less things to complain about.

I also don't like how tightly the console lid closes and the light for the compartment rarely worked. I removed the spring loaded hinge and used magnets to keep the lid closed. I removed the light since I never used it.

ok yay... my turn....

1.Traction???

2.lack of space for anything!

3.the stupid little plastic things that are on the seat belt, the things that slide down and annoy me!

4. Gas Milage?

5. how difficult it is to replace the antenna mast. (take of quarter panels etc..)

6.the amount of difficulty it is to replace simple things...so much more difficult then most..(speedo cable, instrament cluster bulbs, )

7. how impossible it is to tint the rear hatch by ones self.

8. how the little check engine light comes on when it wants to for no reason!

9. how EVERY TIME I FIX SOMETHING SOMETHING ELSE GOES WRONG

10. how there are no ten minute jobs. everything is an hour++

11. creak, creak, squeaky, creak, squeak.

12. the great feeling of standing up from the ride to McDonalds and feeling your freezing cold thighs touch one another (or other parts if your a guy) and realizing how cold that is---aka using thighs to hold cup.

13. how right after i wash my car it rains... no fail.

14. accident magnet.

15.Insurance nightmare.

16. how my window gets caught on my t=top plastic thing and makes the door not shut all the way..

17. the whistle of the wind cause those little plastic triangle window guides dont stay down.

18. how hard it is to find the screw holes in the interior panels i unscrew.

19. how every plastic clip always seems to break just for me.

20. rust.

21. rear hatch struts.

22. how unextended the extended range soundsystem really is....

and iv eonly had the car since augest.

i do however love it... sorta..

When you remove the seats and have no subs, I find that I can put quite a lot in my thirdgen if I utilize the trapezoidal and triangular geomoetric volumes.

I can't believe only a couple people mentioned the harsh ride. That was the first thing that came to mind for me. The camaro should have came standard with a barf bag under the passenger seat.

Or at least more cushy for your tushy. And I agree with the guy that said one more notch in the front seat would be great. I'm 6' 3" tall. I've switched to 4th gen seats and it's A LOT better.

What's absolutely amazing is how well the 4th gens are put together. You'd think they did a survey like this and actually listened to people.

I used to own a '94 Z28, 6spd, w/ t-tops. I bought it used in '97 with 48K miles. That car rode great, was quiet, powerful, comfortable, smooth, and had a lot of convenience items....... like a cup holder. There wasn't one squeek or rattle anywhere. I loved the way the t-tops were held in the back when they were off. And 150mph IS a lot of fun.

It's just too bad they made them look like a Geo Storm on steroids. Then they change them to look like the Chrysler Sebring and wonder why they didn't sell.

1. EXACTLY! The first time I had it off I was like WTF?!?

2. Or the way that if you use the lower belt guide (so it doesn't slice into your throat) the belt a. won't go back in and b. ends up in a U shape after a while.

To LeftTurn1LE... "I can't believe only a couple people mentioned the harsh ride."

Dude, it's a sports car. Even if it is an econo sports car of sorts, it's not gonna ride like a Lumina or Park Avenue...

well, the only complaints I have about these cars is:

A/C should have been standard...
All cars should have gotten posi's
Structurally weak body from the factory
No Manual Trans. on the 350s (firehawks don't count!)
The only V6 available from the factory should've been the Turbo 3.8 GN/TTA V6!
and the lack of cupholders!

but all of that can be fixed....

What I hate about my car...

91-92 Bird cupholders... can they be in the perfect place for people to kick them, skuff them, and break them off? I'm on my 3rd pair of cupholders. The newest ones I've managed to keep perfect for over a year now.
Multicolored interior... No mater what color of bird interior you have, you still get your many-shade gray dash, black panels, etc to go with your carpet and door panel colors.
Clutch throws suck.
Hardly a chance to fit dual exhaust.
White trash reputation
Doorpanels are removable about 3 times before they're trash
Slow power windows
crappy brakes
Lack of factory HP
ugly exterior door handles
cold air / ram air is difficult
nobody makes cold air kit becides SLP $$$
heavy kmember
Tough to keep cool
a/c sucks
heavvvy
Ever have the 'loose steering column' problem?
Cheap center console lid and cig lighter lid
floor matt bunches on passenger side
have to remove tail lights from inside to replace a bulb
headlight motors ...on my 4th motor now
no firewall space
cluttered engine bay
no glove box
hard to have subs look right in rear well
nose heavy
loud resonating interior
rough ride
It's fun to pick these cars apart, but we all love them anyway.

Thats not Gm's fault:
Firebird:
Bullet holes in window (been replaced)
Body that was beaten up on purpose (I hate kids period, this was before I bought it, it has since been fixed and patched at the expense of about 100 hours of my time).

Gm's fault:
Headliners
All that emmisions hose routing under the hood
The 2 bbl carb
The carbed 2.8, so weak I was extremely impressed by my LG4
The LG4
The 85 mph speedo
4500 rpm shift points
Headlight motors that dont work all the time

I dont know, theres a bunch more, but I have to put a fuel pump on the bird otherwise Ill be here all day

I really did not mean your car. I have seen pics of your car but cars of people that really are not trying but have money. they are just driving their cars into the ground with no intentions of fixing them.

BTW: what is that symbol that is to the right in your sig and is in your avitar? It is interesting, like something out of Star Trek.

You guys are just too funny. When I started this thread, I only expected a few people to reply about some the problems that they may share with me. It seems like everyone has something new they don't like that I never knew about LOL.

3. Raddles and squeeks
4. Heavy car
5. Crap factory paint
6. the material in the rear 'aero' spoilers
7. center console coming apart
8. changing spark plugs (glad i dont have a 4thgen for that matter
9. Hood/trunk gas shocks cause you to use 2x4 or broomstick to hold up
10. the huge trunk

i could go on on and...but yet i LOVE my third gen

I used to want to build a perfect car, but now I think I will just settle for a complaint free car. I have a lot of things to sort out. I still can't believe I like my thirdgen so much when the things I don't like about it are endless.

I know, and I would never trade it for one of those, but mine rides more like a farm tractor than a sports car. It's pretty bad when you can ride in a plane or on a boat with no problem, but you get sick in your own car.

Thats one benifit of a sport coupe my friend, the ride on the standard suspension is very good, only very bumpy roads unseatle it.

The only cars i have been in that take one particular local road in their stride are all very modern. (with the exception of my old Volvo 340 GL, that road quite nicely down there as well)

I got it off of eBay, but the guy owns a business also. Here is the web site: www.decalstore.com. You also might want to do a search on eBay under the user ID: decalstore.com. You might get it cheaper there rather than his website.

Here is one that is currently up for auction:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=1977997758

You can request any color.

Harsh ride?

I don't find my hard all that harsh - maybe its the fact that my KYB struts and shocks are only 3 months old. I enjoy the ride quality. Once I turn on the music and start driving in the 2000 RPM range, all the rattles, creeks, and noises seem to be drowned out by the exhaust and music.

I would expect a smooth and comfortable ride in a family car like a minivan for which it was designed, but not from a sports car that is closing in on being 15-20 years old.

I guess some of you guys have a higher standard of ride quality or still have worn out suspension components because I don't have a complaint about ride quality.
