mine just doesnt seem to 'do it for me' anymore. I dont know if it's because I havent modded it in over a year, or because it isnt fast, but as of late Ive been thinking about parting out several parts and turning it into a street machine.....kinda give up the show and get going on the go
still dont know though Ill sit on it over the winter

no lol thats kinda what I was thinking - parting off the most expensive parts, and suffer the least amount appearance wise. I already have the suspension done so adding a drivetrain+engine would be all that it needed.

i hate not having any cup holders and the s*** load of wires under the hood makes it a pain to try and wire everthing and the previous owner because when they put the new motor in they didnt hook one of the ground wires up so the blower for the heater didnt work right and has this bigg *** cut off switch for no reason it is funny looking will have to post a pic of that

What i probably hate most is how most ac are taken out when a bigger engine like my 400 is put in. also... lack of cup holders, unsymetrical trunk space, comon rusted floors and wheel wells.

Man for a sight about a car. It sure sounds like everyone can't stand their car. IT'S ONLY A MACHINE. If you take care of the machine like you are suppose to it will last a long time. Just think a third gen is a piece of technology. Do you still use the came computer or cell phone or stereo you used in 1993. NO. Machinery breaks down. Get over it. Fix it or get rid of it

The worst thing about mine is that when i bought it it had zero miles on it and it seemed like a well built car. Here it is 17 years later and 171,000 miles and all it does is sweaks and rattles. At least on the bright side when i first bought it it was cool to drive, then ten years later not so much. but now with not as many on the road people seem to have a different attitude towards our cars, like they are kind of cool because you don't see one every day.
Uhh ...
power locks died, power windows are slow, AC was taken out (still have it in trunk, no idea how to work it LOL!). htf do I use the lock/unlock ignition thing, takes me two minutes to jiggle it around!
Stuff actually broken by design - sits too low, bumper gets beat up over the years, no glove box, cup holders,
Stuff I'm actually fixing - intake gasket ...

For the most part I absolutely love my car but there are a few things that bug me about it.
1. The hatch motor. I replaced it once with a used one and its broken again.
2. The weatherstripping sucks and is expensive to replace.
3. The weight of the vehicle. Tryin to take weight off is difficult but can be done.
Nothing really major though.

One thing I noticed yesterday, came out of Walmart with several sacks, raining pretty steady, popped the hatch and water ran down the glass right into the car at each side, hit on the wheel well covers and down behind the seats. I figured the drain channels would catch it. But overall, any car today that I can fix and maintain is mostly good.

which is more of a design flaw then a wearing out problem.the only thing that i can complain about is the rattles/sqeaks, but you also have to realize that these cars are 20+ years old now, and are getting worn out. stuff needs to be replaced and rebuilt
for their time they were good cars, but their time has come and gone, even with the 4th gens which are starting to get outdated compared to some of the cars that are coming out today.
like it was said, they are only machines and the technology is old. they are only going to perfom as well as they have been maintained
i cant see how people complain about how much rust they have when they drive the car in the winter/sand/salt/whatever, or how their bumper is chipped and falling apart because they hit a curb or another car, or the headliner is falling down a new one isnt that expensive, or how much power they lack when there is other options on the market for comparable money, etc..... especially if they bought it like that, beacuse if they had all these issues with the car why did they buy that one ? there was how many of these cars made ?
wait until the 4th gens start getting 20/25+ years old, i bet they have just as many "flaws/problems" if not more then our cars if they havnt been taken care of like they should have been.

Parts and time
All it takes to keep your Third gen the way you like it is the willingness to fix what's wrong . Spend the money and take the time. My car isn't perfect and yes it has let me down a few times (alternater/fuel injectors) but it still brings me a feeling of 15 years ago when I bought it. And I tell my wife all the time that if have my way I'll be buried in it
Unless you race, that's really no problem. If you're driving 110 around town, you're probably just going to end up flipping it over and killing yourself and others. I'm not directing this at you or anything, but come on, save some lives here.
If you do, then it's an easy fix. There's a tutorial here.

Heavy doors, headlight motors, glass, hood.. clutch system.. weak trannys and rearends.. cant stuff more than a 10" rim out back.. cramped rear seats.. not much for exterior customizing, only side marker lights and taillight blackouts available.. ground effects discontinued for 82-84 firebirds.. radiators are worthless without the airdam.. factory 305s are weak as $hit.. ground clearance sucks with a 1.5inch drop.. thats all for now..

Are the backseats really that bad? I sat in mine and they're ok but didn't really check out feetroom but seemed ok. Coming from someone who's 5'8" and not excessivly fat. Although you're the driver, just tell your friends to pile in or fight it out for shot gun.

Injector cut off at speed? What years have this? Never had my car that fast so I don't know if it does this or not. I had an S10 that cut out at 95, shut off at 97, in any gear. Didn't know the older cars did this.

All the EFI cars came with a shut off speed, mostly the lower-end models are the ones that get in the way; while the upper-end models cut out at ~145mph.

i hate the headliner. i love the fact that it is the car of choice for white trash america but i hate that white trash america thinks that the camaro's muffler should drag the highway. i beg you white trash america please fix your exhaust and put 4 wheels of the same kind and same size on your car.

I hate how u fix 1 thing on the car right after u fix it something else brakes and u dont go the money to fix it....plus the t-tops leak like crazy and get a 4in flood in da back....lol...and if it downpours all the extra water that didnt leeak all over the seats, sits on top of the headliner and u hit the brakes or turn and all the water pours from the visor holes and all over your lap lol...also whenever u hit a bump it sounds like u got silverware in the back cuz everything vibrates
o and the slow *** 305 forgot about the big bang u get when u close the door wit the window down, how slow the windows go down and and when u lock and unlock your doors it sounds like someone is hitting your door wit a bat

i have a newer dodge neon that i built that out handles and is more reliable ,uses less gas, dont smell 20 years out ,has a great sounding stereo
system, last but not least i can put my kid in the back seat without moving the seats. but its not the same as driving the camaro. if this is your first car enjoy it for what it is and dont hate for what its not. good choice of first car.
the car doesnt stop cuz weight... yet handles great. 305s are too abundant...Interior didnt have nice craftmanship altho they were the s**t in the 80s and early 90s....THEY STILL ROCK THO!!!!! I love um....... Everything about them. They were the best car ever!!!!!!! Every curve!!!! They were perfect!!!!!!

My car doesnt have many problems.. T-tops dont leak.. There are a few problems such as, rear license plate doesnt pop it self up.. Ive been pulled over once.. and it was because of that... i took the t-tops out, put them in the back, and forgot to flip up the L-P..
No cup holders.. lol, who needs them?
Im 6'4 and wish the seat would go back a bit more..
My car with its recent paint job, seems to be a dent magnet...
350 TBI with the ultimate TBI mods 1@2 performed.
700r4 from bowtie overdrives.. 273's out back..
I run low 9.3's at the 1/8mile track... and my car cannot keep a set of 60series tires on the back..

dubbed the ****** having white trash car is probably the one on the top of the list.. crappy rear ends, lack of dual exhaust provisions (can be done but ground clearance is limited) unibody, a 305/a4/2.73 geared z28 thats supposed to be "performance"(my car originally)...lack of cup holders, heavy *** doors, poor window motor design, the clanking when you close your door due to the worn out door handles and window moving freely inside the door, leaky t-tops, umm the PLASTIC gear in the hatch pull down motor that always seems to break, stamped steel anything, drum brakes on a z28, fact that it doesnt hold much value to anyone but 3rd gen enthusiests, i think thats all for now
What do you not like about your thirdgen?
For the 86, the fact that it's not done yet, wow its going to be sweet. For the 92, having t-tops when it rains, but I might be able to fix that problem.
Thats it.

Point of view:
I hate the lack of respect the 3rd gens get.
If you have a 1st, 2nd, 4th gen, or any Mustang you seem to get more respect.
Respect as in better write ups at shows or the strips when they win.
I personally love them, think they look sharp as hell and have every bit as much potential for build up as any other car and far cheaper than a vette.
As far as the car itself. The center console pealing is always annoying.
And those damn Canadian Meteric bubble flare brake lines.
Its a pain to find the exact right size without driving to Canada.
Blah..

Replaced most of the things I don't like:
Headliner - replaced with one from stockinteriors.com - top quality foam backed by plastic instead of the cheap cardboard GM used. Make sure you get the visors and quarter panels too, so the colors all match.
T-5 Shifter - replaced with a Hurst billet shifter - short throw, very precise. Best $200 I spent
Suspension - If you haven't replaced your shocks recently, you probably need to. Koni yellows, along with a Moog front-end rebuild kit.
Cup holder - They made one for the Firebird that attaches to the door. I think you can get it at moderndaymuscle.com
Pending:
Posi rear end - got one from E-bay - will have it installed soon
Disc rear brakes - planning to get the Baer kit
Don't know how to fix:
Where the #$%* is a proper glove compartment? I mean, they have about a cubic yard of space there.
How can I keep my front spoiler from dragging?
