Question about hoods fellas
Hey guys I am just fartin around with some hood ideas for my car this summer. I am either between the SS hood like RS Speed and Brad have on their car...or just a regular cowl. Which ever hood I get I want to make functional. My question is...for the SS hood how would I keep the water out of my Engine? I mean if I am driving around and its raining the water is gonna go up the intake and hit the filter (TBI open Element) Would the K&N stop the water or is there something else I need to get or make? The same thing with a regular cowl....what keep the water from drippd down on your distributor and wires?

I dont have either myself, but think of how many SS's are out there and you dont hear of that problem. Surely they thought of that before they started mass producing them. As for the cowl hood, when they are shut, they extend about 6 in.'s from where any water could have a chance of dripping on the dist. I'm not saying it isnt possible for water to get down there, but it would probably have to be the right wind, hard rain, etc... I know the old, HMM... Rustang HMM... didnt have a problem with the cowl hood.
Anyways, your car is sweet already, I think an SS hood would make it look even better.

I've got an SS hood.....and when I drive on the rain......the top of my plenum just get's a little wet...not really that bad...just a couple water drops.....
Thanks for the answers guys. I thought the 4th gens SS hoods had a bend in it that way the water didnt get in the intake? What I want to do to either hood it cut a whole in the flat part of the hood so when the hood shuts the air cleaner sticks through the whole, then I'll get fresh air and no hot air.
Thanks for the compilement on the car

HOLE Pork, not WHOLE. Unless you are planing on cutting a HOLE that would take up the WHOLE hood. But then there would be no hood, understand?
