What year is your car? It could be a warped pulley, bad water pump, a bad alt., or something of the sort. If you have a serpintine (sp?) belt it could be a bad idler ot tension pulley. Good luck on finding the problem.

You should post questions like this in the "Tech/General Egine" Forum. it will be moved by a Moderator when he finds it. As for your problem.. We need to know what you car is. engine size, belt set up. V groove or serp. belt. Once you give us some more info then we can begin to help you...BTW Welcome to the boards. Lots of good info here for you. When you have a question it is quicker to try a search before posting a new thread. By using the search engine here, you can ususally find a answer to you questions alot faster then waiting for someonw to respond to it. In this case it is a little more case specific so this is a good topic for a new thread. Again Welome to the boards and hope we can help you out once you have givin us some more info.

pulleys are around $30-40. mine did this too when i first got my car. look from the side of your car and see if all of the belts and pulleys look like they are lined up. most likely your gonna have to pull a pulley and unless u have a pulley puller u cant do this so my advice is to take it to a mechanic and have him look at it and get an estamet on how much he will charge u. if its too much and u feel like u can do it yourself go for it but its a pita and it will take about 4 or 5 hours.
