To be technical, the black crosslace rims are actually Trans Am optional wheels and the gold crosslaced wheels were GTA wheels. All GTAs got the gold ones. People just call them GTA wheels and refer to color, which doesn't make any real difference since The wheels are the same.
One more note is that 87-90 GTA wheels are different than 91-92 GTA wheels. the 90-92 GTA wheels have the dimples at the end of the spokes. The difference is very subtle, but noticable closeup.

Devian,
I've never been aware of this difference (The ones I own are '89 Black ones) and all the ones I've seen are the same. Do you have a pic on your HD somewhere, or anyone for that matter? Interesting point I never knew there were different ones that still came in 16" size.

This pic is from the old sales media section. It shows a white 85-90 T/A, not a GTA with silver crosslace wheels.

That white T/A in the ad is a GTA. I think the T/A's had fender Vents and the GTA's didn't. At least that is how I was told to tell them apart, at least for the 87-90 GTA's.
yea, zeph is right because i had to figure out if there was a fake gta for sale in my area and it was fake. It had the fender vents and a bunch of other misleading stuff.
edit - but then looking at it again ... i see transam on the side so now im really not sure .........

Hey Scott, did you shave your fender vents?
Do you have vents, hard to see. You should have them, unless you have the only 85 without them.

Here's my '86 Iroc. It's actually Polo Green with Black crosslace rims, but the car looked black. The picture was taken in '91 just before I sold it. Those smudges are on the picture, not the car. It was my first thirdgen! Bought it brand new in '86 just after Navy boot camp.
