Hey DetailingDude!!!
Hey DetailingDude......
You seem to be the current detailing GURU, so even though I've sone a search, I'd like to hear your ideas for detailing the engine bay. Cleaning is never a problem, it's the detailing. What can you recommend???

I sure hope DetailingDude is good because when I took my GTA to my detailer to do my exterior, he couldn't believe how nice my engine was with 103K miles. He said most engines that he has done with over 50K miles don't come out as good as mine:

I'll wait and see what DetailingDude says to use and then I'll post what I use...
Oh and I know my washer fluid bottle is nasty but I have a new one ready to go in.

Very Nice. Maybe you're a GURU too!
That's one of the nicest engines I've seen! MORE PICS PLEASE.
What did you use, and how did you apply it? My Engine cleans up beautifully, but it never shine like that!!!
Like I said, cleaning is easy....I want opinions and ideas on DETAILING!!!

Here is how I do it...
1. Take your car to a do-it-yourself carwash and hose off your enitire engine compartment using the rinse (just don't spray directly in the TPS sensor). After the rinse use a rag soaked in concentrated Simple Green and scub the areas with caked on dirt if any.
2. Switch to the engine cleaner or wheel cleaner cycle and do it again. Wait about 3-5 mintues after before going on to step 3. Again use the soaked simple green rag once again to finish up the other really diry areas.
3. Use the regular rinse cycle 1 more time to clean everything away and then finsih up using the spotless rinse. Drive home and let the car sit parked overnight.
4. Now that everything is dry, grab a bottle of Eagle 1 Tire Gloss and spray everything under the hood, soak everything. Then use a dry rag and wipe down everything.
Done. Now of course if you have a REALLY nasty engine you are going to want to use a tooth brush and go after all the hard to get dirt during step #3.
Now, of course there are other ways to do it but this is the simplest most cost effective way. You don't need fancy wanna be engine cleaners that you buy at wallmart. Once you get your engine as clean as mine, clean it every time you change your oil. By doing this all you will have to do is rinse, soak in Eagle 1, and wipe dry, done.
