plastic on console
Hey, I'm trying to cut out places for my window switches and power mirror switch on the plastic console cover in my '85 T/A, but not having much success...using a jigsaw works, but the plastic melts back together as soon as I pass through it. Does anyone have any suggestions or tips to make it easier? Thanks!

Okay, I have a soldering iron, but not the hot knife attachement...and I don't have a dremel, which I wish I did, because those things come in handy alot. Maybe I'll go to Home Depot and look for both of those things today. Thank you very much for the ideas, because mine just wasn't working too well!

We used a drill to get a hole to put a blade in, and then used a coping saw (just a little hand saw). It worked out great, but did take a little more time than what a dremel might take.

ive you use a hot knife be careful to do it in like small segments, dont try to do it all at once.. youll heat up the plastic around it and it might distort and flex when u go to cut...

I just did mine a few weeks ago. Drill a pilot hole first and then use a small metal cutter from a dremel....works great. mine came out perfect.
