When to apply body filler.
When to apply body filler.
I'm getting ready to paint the hooptie and if you could see it you would understand. The last guy painted it with Krylon.
It's got some dents and dings, some that I will pound out. Others that I will fill in with plastic filler.
Is it OK to fill the dings, sand, and primer, and then go back later on, say in a week and strip the paint down? I ask because I don't think I will be able to do the body work and primer in one weekend. I don't want to expose the bare metal for long.
Please advise.

Yes that should be okay. BUT.... don't apply filler on top of paint. It will shrink when the new paint is on and the edges will be visible. Also, remember primer and filler are porous like a sponge. That is why primered cars that are left will rust. If you do have to leave it for a week, try and keep it in a dry place or spray some glossy paint over the top of the repairs as soon as the filler is set and the primer is on. You can then flat that back when you do return.
Good luck.
Andy.
