I've got a black '86 Iroc-Z and it's all original with 23,000 miles. Here's my question. The stripe decals just above the ground eftects are as follows: Black stripe 1" wide beginning right at the ground effect. This black stripe is topped by a 1/2" silver stripe.
Is this correct? The reason for asking is because several friends told me that the stripes above the groung effects were to be 3 colors like silver/ black/ silver. What is correct? Thanks! Bill

According to this website(near the bottom) it should have a double stripe above the ground effects. It's all good. So your right & they are wrong.

On 88+ cars the position of the silver/black was reversed, but never did an IROC have a 3 color stripe. Only the Z28s had that.

 

85-87 had a black stripe below the accent color stripe. the 2 stripes should be touching.

88-90 had the accent stripe below the black stripe, and the 2 stripes had some space in between, so I suppose in that case it might LOOK like 3 stripes...but since your car is an 86...they are wrong....only 2 stripes.
