Jongbloed Hood?

I have been away from the board for quite some time now and I was wondering whatever happened to the supposed re-creation of the jongbloed hood?

I think it's somewhere in limbo with the 5" spoiler and thirdgen altezzas.

Word is the owner got caught a couple months ago at the Tex/Mex border trying to smuggle in 2lbs of coke. The feds put him away and siezed all his assets.

Ouch, he might be gone for a while then...I really wanted that hood too.

P.S. there used to be a better picture than that particular one, it was that same car but from a little farther away as to where you could see the hood better.

As seen in the Carbonfiber hood post.

If there is Interest in this Jongblied hood. If I can get ahold of one for a hold I could do it.

How much would you pay for one is the question. and I would deff. need more then a few People interested and commited for sure to make a mold worth while to make.

If interested
1. Id need a hood for a mold. (or I could base it off my 3inch cowl and work out the curved design part as close as I could myself.)
2. E-mail me at Chris@cecoatings.com

How much would it cost total for you to make this hood? You said you would definetly need a few people, so what kind of minimum investment are we talking here? I want to get one of these hoods, and am willing to drop a chunk of change down even if it meens buying multiples.

Guy right now it looks like I have more interest in STOCK IROC hoods in carbonfiber. I can fo CF or regular Fiberglass.

So as for doing a jongbloed hood thats gona have to hold off for awhile.

1. Like I said More interest in stock iroc hood.
2. I'd have to find a jongbloed hood in the 1st place and That will prob be a mayor PITA.

Like most I also wanted this hood and have waited for over a year for its retail release. I couldn't wait any longer so I went with the SS hood. Just the other day I was at the auto auction looking for more thirdgens when I came across a 1987 Iroc-Z with the jongbloed hood. The car has 72,000 miles, original paint, t-tops, 350 TPI and option level #2, It didn't run and needs some work but I won it dirt cheap. The hood looks great with the scoop filling the complete area between each line on the hood, The understructure is also finished with a closed in box and hole for a 14inch air cleaner. I now have what very few have, this is only the third car that I have seen with this hood, the blue camaro, silver camaro and now this red one.

That hood does look really good. Did they make an optional style with the Iroc louver inserts?

TPI383,
how bout making a stock iroc hood that had just a little more hood clearance? something like a 1 inch "bulge" would be wonderful... don't know how well it would turn out, or how noticable it would be, but it would be awesome to be able to fit somthing like a Victor jr manifold under the stock looking hood and be able to put an air cleaner on it...

Jongbloed for me. I'm not too interested in a stock IROC hood although it sounds pretty cool with the slight bulge. I do think if you put the Victor intake and air cleaner on it would have to be more than one inch. Probably about 1 1/2" or 2".

Can the Jongbloed hood made so that the IROC hood vents be put in them . Can anybody photoshop those vents or blisters on the Jongbloed hood.

In my opinion I think this be the best of two worlds.

Nah you guys are a pain in the a$$. J/P dude.I think its just cause theres more variations of the Bird hood and there would be too much of a fit thrown if one hood was made, while another style wasnt.

personaly i would pay a pretty high price for a limited production of this hood, i have been watching and waiting like several other for quite some time now, and no one seems interested in making it (somewhat understandable, since there is a pretty limited market)

if you make it though, i am sure you would get at least as much response to this hood as you would a CF factory hood.

BTW if you DO build the the JB hood, can you leave enough material underneith, so that i can sand the ridge down , that is really the one thing i don't like is the ridge running down the middle, i would prefer is smooth.

The biggest issure with this is I dont have access to a JB hood.

I would like it better with no ride also and id make it with out the carb brace/underside... hole

well, we all need to talk one of the people with this hood into letting you make a mold of it.

also no ridge, and no underside is exactly what i want, i was planning on buying one however it cam, then modifing it to my needs, i want / need the clearance of a full 3" cowl, so i don't want that underside like the one in the picture has. and to me the ridge just looks out of place, it ruins the smoothness of the lines.

I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY want that hood!!!!! I have wanted one since the day I saw it but (understandably) no one want to make one and the one guy who was going to is a bum and either got caught w/coke or dropped off the face of the earth. Anyway you have my vote for the jongbloed hood.

I want the bottom side to be open, and as for the ridge it is not as important I would rather it not be there, but if it is there I would like it smaller.

If you do decide to do this hood, andy89rs has one, and vettetrax has one. They are both members of this board and andy previously said he would be willing to let someone use his hood to make a mold.<---If my memory serves me.

A big thing is cost though how much for one of these.

I've been eyeballing that hood for a while, and would pay to get it.
you could also probably fit a STB under it with a stealthram, due to the extra width. you could then get the stb over the top of the HSR and back down again.

make it happen!

What is it going to take to get the ball rolling on this hood? I really want this hood and I am obviously not the only one. I do not know how long it would take to make one, but we need to organize who really wants to buy one and who just likes it so someone can figure out how much one of these is going to cost each of us and get started making them.

I am going to paint my car pretty soon and between this and the 5" iroc spoiler I think that I am going to go crazy. Nothin is for sure and I would really like to get to the paint shop before summer.<---Probably not going to happen, but I am optimistic.

So really, who is interestd?

One vote for me.
