He specifically asked for pics, and was upset about not seeing any. Is there a problem here?

that's how my 295/18's feel to me.....

not nearly that bad, but pretty close. maybe it's just because i'm use to such a smaller 16" with 245/50's and then going to a 18x10.5 with 295/35's

i've got them in as far as they go and the lip of the fender does come over but it's close.......

thanks for the pictures...anyone else or anymore?

do you have any downward angles, rear angles, or any angles that show in detail the relation of the wheel to the fender?

Do you guys with the 275/40/17s have any problem with rubbing at all? Just curious, I'm thinking about buying some 17s.

No more than I did with the 16" stock ones. Maybe even a little less.

cg91ta, that's about how mine looks.....slightly different since the sidewall is completely straight with the 295/35 series.

a little further out than i had wanted but nothing like the above pictures...

to those who don't like the look, which are you talking; you don't have much choice when trying to run a really wide tire unfortunately.

Well, why run that wide a tire? If it's for looks, I think it ruins it totally, if it's traction you're after, run a better tire instead of something that sticks 2+ inches past the fender..

I honestly cannot see the advantage of having the tires stick out past the fender, but it's just a presonal preference I guess..

To each thier own..

Cheers,

you can't possibly run a better tire.

i understand that anything beyond what cg91ta has is a bit much, but your going to have to go a little wider than stock to fit wider tires obviously.

when your running an extreme amount of horsepower matched with torque it's nice to have that larger rear tire to plant that power.

same as the front, it helps with handling for the car....i can understand why you wouldn't want it like the very first few pics where it's just out of the question..but not everyone wants to run skinny tires.

if those of you who are against such a thing think that cg91tas tire setup ruins the look then there is no pleasing you and you don't plan to do any performance use with the car other than picking up groceries.

your absolutely right, too each their own....

The difference between the 245/50/16 and the 275/40/17 is night and day, and that's running Firehawk SZ50s in both sizes. Although my g-friend doesn't necessarily like the ride, I love the handling. Period.
I agree, a tire sticking 2+ inches past the fenderwell doesn't look good in my book, but to each their own.

Kandied when are we going to see the car?

cg91ta,
I love your car.

Best look is when the tire is just about flush with the fender lip, like on your car. Lookin' nice

the car will be done by the 20th of this month. i will have post "world of wheels" show pics on the following monday.

i really don't want the wheels to stick out far, i can live with a little bit like the firehawks and such......nothing like those imported camaros for sure. i just hope it turns out nice and not the other way around. we'll see, if not i'll just sell the wheels i guess.

Here are my 9.5's and some 11's.

oh, I have a 4th gen rear on the car, but I had to slap a spacer on there due to the bump-stop getting in the way and the only spacer I had on hand was a 2.25" one.

My friend runs 10.2's on 9.5" MT ET Streets. I run 11.5" ET Streets and they look no different than my old 255's and hook flawlessly with my combo and a 150hp shot of nitrous in first gear with 3.73's..

I really like cg91ta's car, looks very nice. There are still the tub and mini-tub options for wider meat..

I should have been more clear, I was only talking about the blue and redish car with the rims that stick 2"s past the fender. So far, the rest of the pics look good to me..

cg91ta's tires don't stick out past the lip of the fender at all, and therefore; looks awesome.. And hey, I've been known to go get groceries in my car from time to time <grin>

so your saying that if all is equal a 245 wide tire will grip just as well as a 295???

i doubt that highly.....but if you say so.

No, what I'm saying, if you'll read correctly, is that a 255 ET Street drag tire will hook better than almost any other NORMAL tire at any size... I say almost because there are some drag radial tires (BFG and others), that if wide enough, could hook as well as the ET Streets, but it would have to be a pretty big size diff..

Back to my original point, if someone wants to add tires to the back of the car that stick 2"s or more past the fender for looks, personally, I think it ruins it... If it's done for more traction, why not buy a tire that fits within the confines of the wheel well, looks good, and hooks better than the wider tire... I say this ASSuming that the wide tire in which someone was putting on originally is not a drag tire of some sort..

Sorry if I offend anyone, but having your rear tires stick out 2 plus inches past your fender, is like having a big ol aluminum wing bolted to the back.. If you want insanely wide tires, do it right and tub it..

Cheers,
